I was supposed to see it in imax tonight but tickets sold out WAY too quickly. We're seeing it tonight in a regular theater and will probably get wasted next week and see it at imax.
Seeing as how 7 of my friends saw a midnight showing last night and 6 of them are going again tonight, i think it's safe to say it's going to be amazing.

Here's what i thought: Go see it. Now. Just leave work.

It's incredible. I was a little disappointed in an aspect of Harvey Dent (being as generic as possible so that i do not spoil anything), but overall it was amazing movie. Ledger's performance is ridiculously spot-on to how the Joker has always been meant to be played.

Ya, you're completely right. I almost didn't want to like the new Joker just to counteract all this better-than-Jack hype that's been goin around, but he was really very good. I still like Jack better, but I was really impressed.

What about harvey dent didn't you like? how they kinda whizzed through that character instead of carrying it onto the next movie?

I liked jack, but he was never evil enough for me. I mean, the joker was one twisted demento in the comic book, and in the original batman he almost seemed like a hippie that wanted everyone to be happy. It's like he just wanted to burn a crop of marijuana and have gotham gather around it and chill. Ledger suited the much more dark Batman that nolan envisioned. They're both great...it's like comparing apples to oranges.
You guessed it dead on. I would've rather seen the movie end a bit earlier and had Dent be the villain for the next one. He was two-face for a whole 20 minutes before falling off a 2 story building...c'mon now DC, you can do better than that. I guess they just wanted to stick to the old 2 villains per movie motto that the other batman series religiously stuck to. It really wasn't a huge deal though; i kinda liked that they explored Dent's character as the "White Knight" DA.

Ya, I really liked how that character played out, and I would've liked him to be the major villain in the next one, but I don't think they could stretch his evil far enough. As it is he was only killing corrupt cops and gangsters, so I don't think he'd pose that much of a threat. But he is dead, it might've only been a 2 story building but they had a ceremony and everything, so I don't know why I keep hearing people talking about how he might've survived. No chance.

I don't know the comics whatsoever, so I'm not looking at it in that perspective. This Joker was absolutely perfect for this kinda movie. Apples and oranges, you're dead on about that, and I'm not gonna be comparing. The whole time watching him I was just so pissed I'd never see that character come back.

I love how the end left it completely open. They could go any direction they want with the third one now, besides the obvious that he's being hunted down by cops. But who the hell are they gonna use for the villain now? The only thing I can think of is Riddler cause the rest of em seem way too far fetched for this series.

They'll find a way, easily. Think about it: two face was more of a double personality schizoid in the comics, but was able to portray a normal human being gone awry in the movie. I don't think the movies could pull off someone like mr. freeze or clayface or killer croc, but i think they could do the riddler, harley (as a predecessor to the joker), MAYBE the penguin (if they didn't go as far as they did with devito), catwoman, firefly, etc. if a little work and backstory went into it. I would personally LOVE to see the riddler.

well i don't know the comics at ALL. Never been into comics really. So what I know is all based off the comics that had cartoons when i was a kid. and that's about as far as my batman knowledge goes. But they covered the majority of the stories in the 90's cartoon i think. I can't think of which villain I'd even wanna see next time. Riddler seems like the only one who isn't too far fetched. They obviously won't go for clayface or mr freeze, and i better not see any catwoman, robin or batgirl. they'd be shootin themselves in the foot with that shit.

Yeah, that's what i know it from too...was into comic cards as a kid so i remember a lot of that stuff. Besides that....screwed.
If i see catwoman or robin or batgirl in ANY batman movie under the nolan franchise i will go postal. I would treat bale the way he has recently treated his mother and sister (too much too soon?).

I just don't know how they could top themselves from here. they've used the best villain, period. they'd have to think of something seriously amazing to compete with this one. And adding a sidekick would not help.

They won't be able to top it. I mean, joker has always been batman's greatest arch-nemesis; think about it, they are opposite in every way, yet as joker stated, are also so much alike.
I really hope they do the riddler. Jim Carey's version was pretty much spot on, and creeped me the fuck out. With the dark theme that nolan's versions are taking, riddler would complete my nightmares to say the least (especially if he is played by david tennant as discussed in the other thread).

oh yeah, i read a bit of that. i don't know who that guys is cause i don't watch doctor who, or whatever he's from, but he's got the face for it.

people are gonna be talkin about what #3 is gonna be like for a LONG time, so i'm saving my energy for when there's any real info to go on. haha. i'd imagine it has to be riddler, but everyone's shunning the old movies now so it wouldn't be ANYTHING like Jim Carrey's version. even tho i loved that, that movie was definitely closer to shitty batman than good batman. haha. fuckin chris odonnell.
