thought so, I knew SOMEONE in here was around 15. hah
I'd like to defend my loserdom by making known that i come on here from work on the nightshift since there's NOTHING to do for 8 hours and most sites are blocked. And i'm only 23. I'm hoping i'll laugh at this stuff by 25. haha.

And there's nothing wrong with shooting the shit about metal. Haven't actually been to the real Cloverfield forum in probably 2-3 days now. Nothing interesting goin on.

Hahahaha look at how similar our posts are about going on this forum during work. Funny shit.
Btw, i'm 21.

Bah! I'm the old one. haha. Well, not mentally i guess. I'm more of a lurker around here than an investigator/poster, as you can tell from my not-so-many posts for being here since August. Tried to post a few things but I'm always trouted so I just stop now.

Ya, very little sites available to kill time on. Most proxy sites blocked too so there's really no way of keeping entertained here. Pretty much just been organizing the gigantic iPod most days, playng emulator SNES, shit like that.

My most recently listened to artists have been:

The New Pornographers
Mastodon (they're pretty hardxcore, right?)
Neko Case
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Black Lips
The Pixies
The Fall
Half Japanese
Rage Against the Machine (also pretty something-core, right?)

Reminds me, I need to turn on last.fm

Dude, Mastodon is NOT hardcore. In any way. They are metal, plain and simple. If you need to pin it down more they're Doom/Sludge Metal with Progressive influence.
Also Rage defies genre limitations. They are hard-rock, rap-grunge, i dunno. They are nothing you could attach 'core' to.

As for the other bands, i dunno, not familiar with em all. Some Pixies stuff is pretty cool but I haven't explored them enough to form a real opinion.

Just don't step on my shoes by telling me Mastodon and Rage are 'core'.
Leave your precise 'core' labelling at the door when dealing with classic shit like that (I know Mastodon are less than 10 years old, but they're classic to me).

I agree, i would call mastodon prog metal if anything. Stuff that technical doesn't need to be dirtied by adding -core to it (this coming from someone whose favorite genres end in 'core' should tell you how much respect i have for them). Unless something has a very blatant breakdown, i wouldn't throw 'core' in there at all.
I would say rage is nu-metal if i had to genre-define them. Unfortunately, bands like limp dickspit got thrown into the same pool as rage, but i guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Haven't heard any of the other stuff. My favs are all that remains, as i lay dying, as blood runs black, killswitch engage, parkway drive, august burns red, bleeding through, unearth, darkest hour, ill nino, soilwork, through the eyes of the dead, all shall perish, violent work of art, winds of plague, stuff like that. Pretty standard metalcore/deathcore, but stuff i love nonetheless.

You indeed are a fan of the core. haha. Not that I'm not a fan, I just hate the term. Wish they would've given it a more respectable name. 'Metalcore' to me sounds like half-assed metal. Not the music, just the name. Same thing happened to nu-metal. There were some really great bands at the start of that whole thing, but then it blew up and all these baggy pants retards ruined the whole image. Limp Bizkit included for sure (they were pretty much the template for all bad nu metal), even though I still think Wes Borland is a great writer of odd riffs.

I'm sure I still have plenty of nu-metal I can't let go of (now in iTunes I call em Alt. Metal, hahaha), like really old (hed)pe, Rage, even Faith No More is considered nu-metal by some (which is fucked). I don't think I'll include KoRn, funny that they get credit for starting the whole rap-rock thing when they don't even sound like it. haha. But their first 2-3 discs are with me for life.

But yeah, those bands you named are kickass. I LOVE old Soilwork, dunno why they're rockin' the ballads now (Nerve). Still good stuff, they're new shit kicks the ass off new In Flames at least. And Ill Nino was another big one for me in high school. That and 40 Below Summer, all those almost-metal bands. haha. Hell, I even used to listen to Linkin Park when they first came out... shame on me! hahaha.

Sorry I kinda dropped out of the conversation... been busy finishing up the last year of high school.

Anyways, About A7X...

No way would I consider them my favorite band. I like some of their songs, and don't like others... not exactly a hardcore fan, but I like their style to an extent.

Ya i know what you mean. A7X are almost like a guilty pleasure of mine.
I love some songs and despise others. It's so strange. The more I look at the singer the more I want to bitchslap him and tell him he's not Axl Rose (or Scott Weiland on 'Scream').

But some songs do rock like hell and I can't deny it (Blinded in Chains). But their little kid fanboys really make em seem lame. haha. Dyed black hair hangin over their face, t-shirts with skulls and flowers, REALLY tight zipper hoodies (also with skulls and flowers). haha.

Yeah, why cant they look NORMAL... I hate when bands make themselves looks like idiots. Just dress like normal people would ya?

Also... to the guy who said Dear God was a bad song... I beg to differ. I love to see bands try different things, and personally I thought that song came out well.

That was me. Personally I can't stand that song. I gave everyone of 'em on that album a fair chance, but that one and 2 or 3 others got booted from the mp3 player. If it works for you, cool. But I couldn't get into that song at all. Second play through the album i skipped it halfway cause I knew it wasn't getting any better. haha. Not that that type of song can't be good in an album. But like I said, they're a guilty pleasure for me. When my friends are into shit like Decapitated (awesome), A7X ends up played alone in the car sometimes. haha.

But even the severe metalhead buddies had to hear Little Piece of Heaven once through. That song is fucked, favourite on the album by far. If they wanna keep experimenting I'd love to hear a whole album as wacked as that one.

Ya, aren't the X's supposed to be on the outside? You can make any band name look tough with two X's on the sides.
