You indeed are a fan of the core. haha. Not that I'm not a fan, I just hate the term. Wish they would've given it a more respectable name. 'Metalcore' to me sounds like half-assed metal. Not the music, just the name. Same thing happened to nu-metal. There were some really great bands at the start of that whole thing, but then it blew up and all these baggy pants retards ruined the whole image. Limp Bizkit included for sure (they were pretty much the template for all bad nu metal), even though I still think Wes Borland is a great writer of odd riffs.

I'm sure I still have plenty of nu-metal I can't let go of (now in iTunes I call em Alt. Metal, hahaha), like really old (hed)pe, Rage, even Faith No More is considered nu-metal by some (which is fucked). I don't think I'll include KoRn, funny that they get credit for starting the whole rap-rock thing when they don't even sound like it. haha. But their first 2-3 discs are with me for life.

But yeah, those bands you named are kickass. I LOVE old Soilwork, dunno why they're rockin' the ballads now (Nerve). Still good stuff, they're new shit kicks the ass off new In Flames at least. And Ill Nino was another big one for me in high school. That and 40 Below Summer, all those almost-metal bands. haha. Hell, I even used to listen to Linkin Park when they first came out... shame on me! hahaha.

I can't stand the naming of metalcore either. Not because it sounds half-assed, but because bands that have mastered the genre (unearth, august burns red, etc.) get lumped together with shitty mallcore bands.
As for nu-metal, i'm a huge nu-metal junkie. Some of my guilty pleasures are slipknot (in my top 3 bands), korn, linkin park, etc. Good shit.

haha, don't worry about. Everyone's got their taste, and judging by most of you I'm in the minority. Never said my shit's better than anyone else's in fact. In my opinion it is, but for all you know I'm fucked in the head.

Tried out Paramore, not a fan. They're all over Revolver, so the death metal dudes are pissed. haha. But I do like a lot of shit my friends would call emo. Tryin' to think of a few... For reasons I can't explain I like Enter Shikari. Can't get anyone else into them though. He Is Legend some call emo and I LOVE them.

Anyone ever heard Genghis Tron? Their new cd blows my mind.

suckaH: Slipknot's awesome, was obsessed in high school with their first album. But I wouldn't call em nu metal. everyone else does for some reason. They're just metal, they have the weird 9 guy thing and the masks but that doesn't mean they're jumping around like Fred Durst.

Genghis Tron, He Is Legend, and Enter Shikari are all really good bands

 		Ya, the new Genghis Tron took a while for me to really get into, their stuff's not really easily accessible right away, but after a while I'm like 'Fuuuuuck, this is great'. I'll never get bored of it cause there's so much different shit going on through the album. I'd say it's probably one of those 'you have to listen to the whole thing all the way through' kinda albums. Especially to get to that epic last song. The first time I heard it I thought it droned on too long, but now I always finish it, sometimes even skipping tracks to get to it. It's just such a massive build up.

And He Is Legend are one of my favourites, fuck anyone who calls them emo. They just blend a ton of styles, some of it may sound a little emo, but they're not whining about skateboards and hating their parents, so it's a pass. I think I'm one of the only ones who loved 'Suck Out The Poison' as much as 'I Am Hollywood'. Seems a lot of people don't like the new vocals, but I've got no complaints.

As far as Enter Shikari, I get in moods where I wanna listen to that. But it's nothing I could put on in a car full of friends. they'd shun that shit in a minute. haha

Yes Pink Floyd are masters of rock music. I just kind of assumed everyone loved them and Sabbath and Zeppelin and etc. I'm just hoping none of the hardcore kids try to gain some cred by writing "Ya, Pink Floid is awesome, that guy rulez!'. Know what I mean?

Presuming you guys all like Between the Buried and Me, anyone hear their covers album? They do 'Us and Them' by Floyd flawlessly. Saxaphone and all. Actually that whole album has some pretty amazing covers. They have ridiculous attention to detail.

ya, that title track might be one of the most energetic songs ever made. always makes the hairs on my neck stand up. That whole album is so so great.

I've seen the name but never heard. Is it heavy, or more Dream Theater-like? Prog Metal tends to get all fucked up when the singer isn't up to par.
