[Missons] Charion - Get Eli Hunt to email you back

04/07/08 -- 7:08pm
+++++
Get Eli Hunt to email you back!
Chariton, we need your strength to get Eli Hunt's help again.

He's dropped off the face of the earth. At least, it seems that way. Who knows, maybe he got sucked through a vortex of collapsing multiverses. I hope not. We still need to find out everything he knows! (And maybe some day actually get our hands on that old copy of The New Atlantis...)

His email is thelostgamesSPLATgmail.com.

This mission is solved when someone gets him to write back with news of where he has been, and what he's currently investigating!

As a secondary-Chariton, I've tried. I sent mine earlier today. I guilted him a bit, then informed him of what we've done, then told him we were worried about him. Three different tacks in one email - he's gotta reply to that! Razz

So, we've got to charm him?

I was e-mailing him before he skipped out, demanding to know what he was so afraid of. Not so much a Chariton message from me, I guess.

I decided to play to my strengths, and appeal to his wisdom, which has previously yielded results with Eli. However I suspect that it will take a primary Chariton to draw him out this time.

What has worked to shake a reply out of him before? Do you think it matters more what we say or how we say it? Are we looking to ask the right question? Or do we tell him what we've discovered so far?

What's the magic touch here?

Hello, Eli Hunt
You don't really know me, but
The wind sings your song

Guess you've gone AWOL
We are all pretty worried
Your silence - so sad

I have one request
Constrained by syllables, yet
with motivation:

Please do write back soon
Tell me the story with these:
Where, Why, When, What, Who

You must be busy
Thanks for reading these haikus
Snow falls on branches.

Running in circles, refreshing my Inbox,

Krystyn

Leave it to a Charion to write poetry. Smile

I was thinking there might be a way to tie it into his latest podcast related to Pangaea. Obviously we've learned some things about it (and others) from the Codex... surely we can appeal to his intellectual side the way he helped last time...

I'm sure I've stated this at least once before, but the one time I've had a specific reply from him it was to a VERY specific question, with an offered answer which was correct.

This was when I contacted him to say I'd been chatting with Ariadne and we noticed there was only 11 sets of three answers in the personality test Codex chapter. I told him we thought there might be three answers missing, and asked him if he knew anything about that.

The next morning I found his reply
with the rest of the test scanned from his New Atlantis book.

And as far as I understand, this was the last we've heard from him...

So that's a combination of asking the right question and telling him something.

In the March 16 e-mail, he said "The visions described in the first chapter, the visions that tormented Micha… I have seen the same things. I saw them when I went into the labyrinth, back when the agonothetai were not numbered as 696, but rather 695…
The visions felt more like memories. They were memories of a different version of my own life, a life in which my actions had consequences I could not bear.
It is hard to explain in words. I never suffered from amnesia, as our friends Ariadne, Diego, Markus, Noriko, Meihui, and Lucie do. But I think I must know what it would be like to wake up from amnesia. I think I know what it is like to suddenly remember your own past, a past you had no idea belonged to you. A past you desperately wish didn't belong to you, a past you wish you could erase even as you have no idea how you created it..."

I asked him if he was keeping up with our latest codex chapters because that sounds a little like a small scale synchronization, that bit about remembering a past you didn't think you belonged to. . . and his podcast sounds like the Neopangaea kind of synchronization.

I also want to know what labyrinth he was in anyway- has he ever said?

I was raised to be charming, not sincere.

Really interesting rereading this from our new multiworld perspective--It makes a lot more sense!

I also received the extra New Atlantis email with the personality questions. I did ask a specific question, but it wasn't directly related to generating the questionnaire.
Quote:
As an established scholar of ancient Greek history, I was wondering if you could throw some light on chapter 4 of the codex.

(I'm not sure who translated this, it wasn't me this time)

Quote:
Χαρις [Kharis, in Greek letters] are responsible for choosing and communicating the sites for labyrinths.

What is your expert opinion on the proper interpretation of 'Kharis' in this context? What is your role in all of this? Are you one of the Kharis?

btw I love the poetry. I know that I would respond to an email if someone wrote haiku about me. Smile

AWOL is safer.
They must not see me coming.
Theo won't win again.

I wrote back, because I am such a FOOL for haiku.

Quote:
Hi again, Eli
You emerged for a moment
Leaving mystery

It occurs to me
That, much like the continents
We're separated

Like the continents
Our futures are linked, chained, tied
Hang in the balance

It occurs to me
That while you work secretly
We could still polka

This is a great dance
Of continents, of athletes
Of legends, we're made

So, what do you say
We work together, avoid
The final island

Silence equals fear
Directionless tyranny:
Is this what you want?

Please spool out a thread
we will hang on tight, with hope
At least solve *this* maze

Any other suggestions on what sort of topics to trigger with him would be appreciated, as I have been stupid-busy unpacking my stuff after a cross-country move ...
