who thinks beth survives but rob doesn't?

watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q86ezGBdmz0

listen after the explosion and they exchange "i love you"s.

beth shouts "ROB!"

listen as she says that.. you can hear jackhammers.

i believe she survives. maybe she's shouting for Rob because he's dead?

either way, we have a survivor Smile

Beth survives.

jack hammer sounds.
her screaming.
man's face

Then, the sublyminal kicker:

when it cuts to the carnival scene and Rob says something like

"are you gonna miss me?"

Rob dies.

I think they both die. I mean, I kind of hope they do- it just feels like that would be the right ending. Assuming Beth survived, how long do you think she would've made it? There were explosions big enough to level an entire city, which, in my opinion, didn't kill the monster, so assuming Beth survived she would still be in a very bad position. Either they bomb again or the monster wreaks more havoc, or the parasites get her, etc etc.

Since I'm new to the forum, and I'm immensely fascinated by it, what does MPG or MGP stand for? It's what you all refer to the monster as.

Hotness is agreed upon.

On the topic of Beth though, I thought she survived too, but after reading this group, I just realized that it IS an alternate ending, so maybe she doesn't?

BUT, if you go to the website (many of you are probably well aware of this), there is a little clip that hijacks the trailer, which would be the one that reveals Beth "surviving" and the jackhammer man... or whatever it is.

ANYWAY, the only reason I point this out is because this is on cloverfieldmovie.com. So, if it IS an alternate ending that MAY or MAY NOT be followed in the storyline, why would they upload this for all to see?? Except to either throw everyone off, which they are known to do, or to actually reveal something major to us!

The other question that is raised by being posted on that site is why not on a viral site? So far all of the extra information not revealed in the film was on a viral site, so why all of the sudden drop some HUGE "bomb" on us like this on a well-known non-viral site?

I dunno. I'm not going to commit to Beth surviving or dying until I get the DVD and I see what direction the end of the manga is going.

This is true... HOWEVER...

Going off of what Reeves (I think it was him anyway) it was most likely going to be events from another view of the same night...

Then again, it is WAAAY too early to be sure they even have a definite storyline for the next film. So you may well be right!

I think a direct continuation would be just as good as a prequel or retelling the events from another view.
