our updated status :

Khaos (Active DA) / Runeix (Active DA) - got confirmation and about to do the desynch.

As i now know my task, i will first finish my already started personnal labyrinth (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25545) in order to push my parallel selves to do the same, and then do my desynch task.

Given my personnal history of random acting through my life and the personnal labyrinth i'm about to do, i'm pretty sure my desynch task won't have any real desynch effect in the end.

I completed my uninitiation mission today. Very Happy

Here is the documentation.

All in all, it was pretty fun! And the park was in full gorgeous autumnal regalia.

Awaiting word back from Theo. Shifty Eyes

That does look fun! I suppose your parallel selves are clearcutting a forest somewhere while you did that or redeveloping the park as a parking garage?

Tee hee! Yeah, I couldn't resist the Radiohead.

However, I was sorely tempted to use 'I've got that photograph of you' by Spike Milligan, just for James. Very Happy

I did my task too : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=sdKGPiPP8zE

(I'm reciting the Australian National Anthem written backward on a paper, the location is a lake near my home)

Beforehand, i also finished my personnal labyrinth (http://blog.chaosklub.com/index.php/post/2008/05/18/Mon-labyrinthe-personnel-derniere-partie) so i can only hope that some of my parallel selves will do theo's task too.

So for our updated status :

Khaos (Active DA) / Runeix (Active DA) - theo's task both done, waiting for theo's reply.

I particularly like your personal labyrinth. Très bien!

Is there anyone else interested in finding a partner for this mission? Sektano received an email from a player in Brazil who is looking for someone to pair up with but doesn't know any overseas players.

If anyone is keen to approach TheO with him, drop me a message and I'll pass on his email address. Very Happy

I disagree, I'm a first timer but it's not out of my normal character to engage in this type of creative outlet. It may have created a new world, but every other version of oneself is a little different anyway, so alternate me may not be engaged in this for entirely different reasons than I would have for not joining.

I think the reason it's desyncing is that you don't think of it AND you aren't likely to do it. Those who are involved have come in willingly no matter how they found this.

Wait, Khaos brought up an interesting point and I'm not sure if he intended to. If we do a desynch and our other selves do the same desynch, having found the same partner, then aren't those people just synching in a different way?

But people are desynching willingly. Is it really about will? However, my views are colored by the way I got here- and the first mission I went on, thought of by people geographically distant and not by me, was to go to a place I had previously taken pains (and expense, absurdly enough) to avoid, and do something I was practically phobic about doing.

And here you touch on a conondrum that I experienced back when I did my own personal labyrinth. For a quick recap, basically during one of my walks, I slipped and fell. That wasn't will, it was entirely accident. However, did the alternate me that was walking the labyrinth at the same time also slip and fall? If he did, then that's a really strange coincidence (although coincidences like that have happened in this world). If he didn't, then we didn't synch and the labyrinth didn't work properly. Maybe that's why I didn't get any visions, but I doubt it. After all, I did do my run way back when we first found out about them.

Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that there is a certain level of natural desynchronization--that happens all over the place. Every random event, every choice, every moment scores of new worlds are created. So why don't we rocket up to the limit in a matter of years? Because 99% of those worlds fold back in on themselves seamlessly. Ultimately does it matter that I slipped? No. The connection wasn't seamless, but it was strong enough to bring me and my alternate buddy close enough to get feelings and certain thoughts. Ultimately that slip was meaningless so the world it created (slip vs. not slip) came back to this one and ceased to exist.

If you are thinking meta, mentioning that all of the new ARG players are making new worlds, then you could argue that when this is over the world will not have changed in any drastic way, allowing the worlds to come back together. If you aren't, then no one is 'new' because we're all 'new.' And those who got the deaddrops... in the end it doesn't matter if Pita got it or if I got it--the important thing is that it was acquired for us to translateand ponder over. Thus the worlds once again merge.

So no, I don't believe that you made a lasting impact. However TheO's mission requires (if done properly) so much randomness that it creates a world that is entirely unnatural in its creation... and even if it ultimately folds back in with our world, we will have moved permanently farther away from the nexus of worlds. TheO's plan, if I understand correctly, is not to make more worlds, but to get us as far away as possible from the nexus, so that the Multiverse will essentially ignore us when RCC comes. We'll be so far away that we can't easily RCC with anything.
