Anyone tried some 'Gibson' passes to anything ?, i really think hes on to something with Bobby Zero. Since we have quotes from other great Science-fiction books, why not something related to Neuromancer ?

just gonna try something out.

I didn't read Neuromancer, and i'm wondering if there is some part of it which could be linked to the cesar text... that would confirm this line more... anyone?

obvious

I really agree that everyone should just focus on the obvious and im very partial that to the theory that caesar is using the pics on paintover to send a coded message. You need to connect the sea urchins, julius caesar text, english policeman, search icon with file under G and filename with what was deciphered from the previous pic.

This seems like a good line to investigate, but I can't help thinking that the caesar text is just a route to the missing word.

since "carelessly" is a common word it would have to be pretty significant to the Neuromance plot to stand out. Alternatively are there any characters, companies or places which are anagrams of this word.

Sorry, I've not read neuromancer either.

Someone mentioned before that there may be several versions of the original Shakespeare text, maybe some missing the carelessly word, although I didn't find any indication of this being the case on google.

We'll bee needing someone who is familiar with neuromancer :)

(why can't i help the feeling that some people out there are having quite
some fun over our efforts? :)

Hmm, you guys have some interesting ideas going, so I don't want to mess those up, but I noticed that with both of caesar's messages, each word can be regarded as a letter/number. 'eye see' == 'I C', 'et tu' -> 'you too' == 'U 2'.

Just a random observation that seems pretty out there even from the one who noticed it.

Surely, it may be that we are being feeded another password character by character...

I've been hoping that's not the case.

There's a summary of William Gibsons books at

http://www.suslik.org/Books/scifi.html#william_gibson

Some interesting stuff.

It's not "you too" it's "and you?" It's pronounced "ay too?"

I'm more apt to believe we could render it as:

I C A 2

Could be the beginning of a coded message.

We?

Perhaps we have to think "in-game" where we are observers intercepting cryptic messages between game characters.

It would be an ironic twist to the game if our communications to the game characters alerted the authorities (agents or whatever) to these activities and got a load of in-game rebels busted. Very Happy

Or if someone someone sent Beth and e-mail saying "ha, ha, we know your password" and so she changed it Embarassed

It probably means nothing, but I interpreted "eye see / et tu" as "I see it, too."

Something is still trying to click in my head over the connection between the Caesar quote (with the carelessly missing word), the fact that the photo was posted to Paintover by a user named "caesar," and that there is probably a Caesar Cypher around somewhere that we may or may not have seen.

I'm new to ARG's and I look at it as some kind of big puzzle game, wich _we_ have to solve... and the operators of the game are the "Henry Staufs" of this "mansion" :) (i hope you know the 7th guest :)

Anyways, about the "et tu?" translation: that quote is really famous in our parts, and it should translate to "you too?", not "and you?".

*speculation follows* :)
And if you take the numbers from the filenames, you can continue the line of thought: "I see one for you too"...
or another idea: S TO L, mirrored (the idea from the vortex site) ->
"I see lots, (including) you too"
