diffs

In case anyone wants to see what, specifically, has changed between the two versions, take a look at the graphic diffs:

(The differences are a little difficult to see, but is certainly focused around the "@" and the three tabs)

Opening FTP's under Internet Explorer looks like this:

ftp://user:pass@url.com

So I tried ftp://Bobby:carelessly@paintover.net

Ok, so I got an user or pass wrong. I do believe that Bobby is the user but don't know the password. Tried several things but I didn't get it. I think the password is somehow related to the text.

ftp

Umm... guy's you can FTP into paintover.net

If you setup the default directory to /bobby/ it won't let you log into the anonymous FTP. It asks for a password.

I logged into the root of paintover.net and got access to a whole bunch of underscore hosting files... a lot of locked out shit, i'm starting to look trough what i downloaded now... i'll tell ya if i find anything interesting.

the whole ftp thing makes more and more sense.

I don't think bobby is the password. The Folder is on top of him. Maybe it's the name of a folder once you're logged on...

Username probably related to the urchins or to shakespeare or something

I don't think underscore hosting files are excluded from the game as underscore hosting doesn't exist.

You can use IE to access basic FTP sites, but you are probably better off getting a proper ftp client. You also get to see what is being communicated.

Code:

STATUS:>   Connect: Monday 23:21:55 10-06-2003
STATUS:>   Connecting to ftp.paintover.net
STATUS:>   Connecting to ftp.paintover.net (ip = 66.135.36.145)
STATUS:>   Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message...
   220 ProFTPD FTP Server ready.
STATUS:>   Connected. Authenticating...
COMMAND:>   USER Bobby
   331 Password required for bobby.
COMMAND:>   PASS ********

memory's not serving me right now but i'm sure there's been a lot of letters being left out here and there - like in beth's metadex there was a "e" left out of a "please", right? does anyone have a list of these "typos" that aren't really?

the 'e' in please
Luxury misspelled as 'luxery' - theaquapolis.com
Aquapolis mispelled as "Aquaplis" - theaquapolis.com
Unfinished sentence in Cascade Vortex research (#75) - little-boxes.net:
"Physics is the wildcard here, increasing in strength as the subject gets closer t"

(I was a proofreader in a former life.)

I thought there was one more, but I don't see it now. I'll probably get a Trout for this.... !

i think that aquapolis is clearly the way we are supposed to go. the "bobby" i believe is a policeman, not a bobby. we're reading too much into it. the shells are not "urchins" but aquatic. so aqua+police=aquapolis. then ftp is clearly highlighted along with @ so ftp@aquapolis

?

Could be. I've tried a couple at theaquapolis.com, no luck so far.

This sounds logical to me. The @ symbol is "before" (left and above) the police, which makes me think it is part of the domain name rather than the username.
