As far as I can tell none of the images on the Ravenwood site are stegged or they require a password (I tried "spiral" on all). They all seem to have normal file sizes. The only thing I found odd was that two of the images have tags:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
schoolhallway.jpg: Ljubljana; Lokacije; NUK;

schoolinterior.jpg: retro; room; lamp; interior; home; armchair; chair; leather; brown; table; chess; game; book; sport; leisure; dirty; paisley; antique; archive; bibliophile; classic; carpet; style; collection; education; bookcase; library; law; learning; old; stack; study; studying; university; wisdom; lifestyle; bookshelf; wood; indoors; cabinet; dark; shelf; domestic; ancient; textbook; vintage;

May not mean anything though. Also, in the school hallway picture, it looks like the reflection in the floor is different than it should be. Or it's a really tall hallway, hard to tell what I'm looking at exactly.

Can someone try decamouflaging the 'seekthespiral' message?
If you just add "/Scratchy Text1.gif" to the end of the Ravenwood College website, you'll get the image. I'd do it now but I'm currently on a Mac....adnd it won't work....

I ran across this thread in the Meta section dealing with destegging tools for the Mac. I don't know if it works or not, but I hope it helps!

I found the same thing. I did find that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ljubljana := the capital of Slovenia.
the images on wikipedia are very similar to the castle image of the school.
and if you do a google image search you find a lot more.

Lokacije := something in Serbia (cant translate)
Update:Lokacije := Croatian for Locations

It could be that the image they used is a stock photo from that location
and not really related to the story.

Still checking, will report back if something comes up.

BIG META here...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
J. Todd Coleman, Director and Executive Producer of KingsIsle Entertainment added me to his Linked In network.

It says that they are working on TWO MMORPGs, which I assume are the two blurred images on the "products" page; I'm guessing Ravenwood is for one of them only.

He was formerly founder and president of Wolfpack Entertainment, which created Shadowbane, which was pretty damn good for its era. Wolfpack Entertainment was acquired by UbiSoft in February/March 2004.

He's also a pioneer of text-based MUDs of long ago. And, for the record, he was a speaker at GDC in 2003.

Trivia: he also owns a US Pattent - U.S. Patent #5,708,828, "System for converting data from input data environment using first format to output data environment using second format by executing the associations between their fields"

Hi,

The old cliché of long time lurker, first time poster and ARG player...

Is it just me, or is there the silhouette of a person at the bottom of the hallway pic? First post? First trout? Hope not!

Not a real lurker. I have been away for a while. Just back into ARGing. I hope this one will be worth the return.

Dude in the hallway

Yeah, I blew up the hallway pic and there is indeed a guy standing at the end, with his reflection next to it.

Yeah, there also appears to be someone looking over the top left railing wearing a snorkel.

[SPEC]I believe that the scribbled words were probably written by someone on the inside trying to get a message out and not by the school itself. I'll lurk on this one.[/SPEC]

Also, as a side note, I opened all of the pictures in Notepad and noticed something:

Normally a photo will have a little note about what camera took the photo and/or what the image was made with. In the case of 3 of the photos you can clearly see that Photoshop CS3 was used. One has the PENTAX Corportation name (legit company, btw) and one has Canon Canon EOS 30D.

The only one that does not have any note in it what so ever is the school.jpg image.

Can someone please explain, since I seriously have no knowledge of how photos work in regards to what they put into Notepad when opened, why this would happen? Could it have been altered, thus taking out the original "made with" tags or is it something much more simpler than that?

Also, what clues would you be looking for in Notepad (if any) that would hint that a picture has been altered? I'm trying to learn more about this, I guess, for future reference.

You can get a free image utility called InfranView http://www.irfanview.net/ install all of the plugins and it will allow you to view all of the image information. it is under Image>Information.
It will allow you to view the EXIF and the IPTC information.

The image of the school could be a mash up of other photos to create a castle.

Ha! Pentax is a legit company? This amuses me highly, and should amuse anyone who has ever played White Wolfs Werewolf the Apocalypse ((Pentax is an evil company run by the wyrm ^^))
