[META] Trackstick.com leveraging off TLR
Official sponsor, or jumping at promo opportunity?

There is now a banner ad on the official Trackstick website which reads: "USE TRACKSTICK TO FIND THE LOST RING".

The page you click through to would suggest to me that they're not official sponsors, or they are, but really have no idea how the tracksticks fit into the story:

trackstick site wrote:
Players were recently instructed to create city-scale "labryinths" using Tracksticks as proof of their movements through phantom mazes around the world. In the mythology of The Lost Ring universe, these labyrinths work in the same way as some believe crop-circles do, in that they are cosmic symbols pointing to clues or artifacts. Players will actually and go and find these artifacts using clues and the information recorded by their Trackstick. In the spirit of omphaloi (an ancient system of navigation similar to GPS), Tracksticks will record a player's creation of a city labryinth by showing them their paths on a satellite map. These paths will become signs to finding the location of given objectives in a mission.

WTF? Very Happy

I'm tempted to get in touch with them and provide them with a somewhat more accurate description... anyone want to help put one together?

It is seriously hard to explain this stuff to people! It might be worth giving the trackstick people something better to post just to keep from having to un-muddle anyone who found their way to the game from there!

My guess is that Chapter 26 of the Codex explains how we have to increase our synchronization by drawing crop circles and phantom mazes...

I'm confused - how different is their description, exactly, from reality? It didn't seem that off to me.

well, for example, this part is totally off :

Quote:
find these artifacts using clues and the information recorded by their Trackstick

Trackstick doesn't give any information to find artifacts. That's the artifacts that talk about cities labyrinth for which we need Trackstick.

Spec lies ahead:

What if that's a spoiler for what'll happen next? I know ostensibly these are to do giant knots in an omph net, but what if they do end up revealing a location for something? Not an 'artifact' as we know them (which are the Codex pages) but clues to finding the sculpture rings that Eli talked about?

It makes a lot of sense to me. Kai said he'd send a Trackstick AND some Agonothetai gear. Maybe the answer is in the gear...all the receivers need to put the pieces together, i don't know..something like that.

i think it more likely that the other 'stuff' is the tattos and stickers the japan team got, but i could be wrong (btw whats the lead time on recieving the trackstick after kai says he'll sned one?

I'd recommend dropping him a PM asking for the FedEx tracking number. I see the NZ trackstick is currently in transit in Honolulu...
