[Meta] Cold-Contacting People for the Ompahlabyrinth Mission
There are a few teams yet to be found...

As I expect we're going to have to drum up some interest in a number of the Omphalabyrinth Cities ourselves, I figured it might be worth starting a general thread with thoughts, discussion and tips as to the best way of doing that.

For starters, here is the message format I've just used for trying to find someone in Reykjavik:

Hello [their name(s)]!

Sorry to contact you like this out of the blue, but I'm part of a Global community playing a huge adventure game which has been commissioned by the International Olympic Committee, and we need help in Reykjavik.

There is an unusual task which has arisen as a part of the game, and I was wondering if you might be interested in getting involved. We've been asked to find people in 27 cities around the world who would be willing to "draw" a Labyrinth design upon their city using the city streets. To do the task, you would be sent a GPS device called a "Trackstick" (http://www.trackstick.com) which you would get to keep afterwards. You then use the trackstick to walk/drive/bike a path through Reykjavik which would follow a classical labyrinth-type design.

I know this seems totally crazy, but it has already been done in Munich, San Francisco, and Manilla - and I'll be leading a team to do it in Wellington, New Zealand tomorrow morning. You can see proposed designs for many of the 27 cities, and pictures of the completed Labyrinth designs here:

Here is a blog post about the mission from one of the "Characters" within the game (it's a bit like a huge interactive theatre show):

And here is the players-only forum thread regarding the Reykjavik City Labyrinth - if you're perhaps interested in getting involved, post here and you'll get help from all around the world:

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to drop me an email at [my email address] - and if this is all a bit far out and you're not interested, I totally understand!

Thanks!

Brilliant mr.judkins, I really hope we'll get some positive reactions now - the potential contact person I had addressed unfortunately can't help us since she has no contacts in Iceland who might be able to participate.

Two suggestions for additions in case you or other agonothetai/theOrists use your text again for addressing other possible participants:

mr.judkins, the text is a valuable introduction to this crazy ARG world. It explains briefly and clearly what we're intending to do, in one shot.
awesome!
