 		Password Help!
Trying to customize my hand-me-down comp...
I just inherited a friend's lappy and am trying to change my admin prefs... but I need the password!

The hint is: Frozen Lake, Sprague

I've tried Washington, Sprague, FrozenLake, all of those without caps... I'm super out of ideas!

Can anyone help or suggest?? It's driving me nuts!

 		Non-hacking solution - can't you ask your friend what the password is?

Did you try a search engine? Those terms got me to Rocky Mountain National Park which is in Colorado.

 		Your 'admin prefs'?
If you can log in as admin to access that user's 'prefs', then don't you already have the access needed to change the password? Why is reformatting not an option? That'd be the best way to be sure your friend's personal information is no longer there, so you can best respect their privacy.

 		its a mac, i only need the password to customize certain things / rename the administrative login and all that.

no worries, guys... i just thought i'd be able to get some help figuring out the password based on the password hint...

but thanks anyway!

 		Heh, I had my suspicions it might be a Mac...
There is no easy or simple way to break the password on OS X. I would warn anyone thinking of having a stolen Mac laptop to think again. Oh, and if all the System Preference panes have been set to password access only, Screen Sharing could not be disabled without that password.

 		You can reboot with the OS X install CD, wait for the installer to pop up, go to Utilities > Reset Passsword

Done!
