I too want a Cloverfield sequel.

However, I feel some closure from the sacs in the magna. To know where it came from, that was the tightest thing ever.

i mean, not literally, he DOES do some cool stuff. but i'm saying that in light of a cloverfield 2.

we don't need him for a sequel. we need matt and drew. or, matt or drew. what did jj honestly do for this movie? besides put his name on it? i'm sure he had SOME input, but it's not like he was THE driving force behind it. if i remember correctly, we've already discussed that fact.

i could give a shit less if zach braff (i love the scrubs show, though, very funny ) produced the next film. as long as we have the REAL creative minds still behind it, we have a sequel.

if wittle baby JJ would rather focus on TV shows and invisible women, that doesn't mean a sequel won't happen.

everyone seems to see his name, and figure that it's the nail in the coffin as far as cloverfield goes. jj has become an arrogant prick. point made. hopefully, point agreed. lately, he doesn't know his asshole from his elbow

i'm not hating on JJ... i'm just saying... if he isn't on board for a sequel, that doesn't mean we've heard the deathnote for cloverfield 2. he becomes rather insignificant when you look to the real creative minds.

honestly, alien:resurrection was TERRIBLE. but look at alien, aliens, and alien 3. badass movies. all different producers.

if he dosent want to do a sequel then he dosen't maybe like he said trying a new idea means it might be better than the first one!!

Maybe he wants to break away from the shaky cam style and may do something else in the same world but not like before.

example Jaws: the first was great and the Jaws 2 and 3 just flat out sucked!!

JJ is a beast...we all know that; its generally accepted.

I mean look at the juggernaut that is lost; you cannot not say he is the driving force behind lost. Same with Alias and M:I:III, all great entertainment.

With the name JJ Abrams attached to your film, you are already making mega bucks.

But with his name you also get his unpredictable nature and his impatience in making films and shows. Im not gonna lie i would not have gotten into cloverfield had i not seen:

My problem is this (as I'm sure it is for a lot of you): I come on here one day and there's news that the sequal might be made; I come on the next day and there's news that it might not be made; I come on the day after and there's news that it will be made; I come on the days after that and there's news that it still might not be made; then, yet again, I come on here and there's news that it will be made with or without JJ; and, then, there's news that everyone involved wants to do other projects; then, it's already in progress; and, then, it's down the shitter.
I could plot the curve with a fucking sine wave (in fact, [f(x) = xsin(x)] is a good approximation, if wanna try it), and it's making me motion sick.

I want a sequel because I like giant monsters, doom, and destruction. But, I would be just as content with a whole other movie not related to Cloverfield, so long as it gives me what I want. With the Cloverfield monster being a respectable 7.18 on the Richter-Monster Scale (and, yes, I just made that shit up), it would certainly be nice to involve him/her again, but I can always be pacified by something as good or better. What's pissing me off is the hemming and hawing going on back-stage; either make a sequel or leave it alone, either would make me happy at this point in time, just stop screwing with our heads...I'm already being fucked with by the Jurassic Park IV folks.

Don't get me wrong, I think there needs to be a Cloverfield sequel as the movie seemed like a very long commercial for something bigger, but it's also way too early to tell since the movie came out...5 months ago? If anything, I would like for them to take their time with the sequel to make sure it lives up to the viewers' standards regarding the questions that need to be answered. There are many directions they can take, I want to know they're going to take a good one. That being said, they need to at least confirm that it's GOING to happen and deal with the details later. I too hate being mindfucked like this.
