Do you have a link to what you used for the translation? A tool or chart or something?

I used this

http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html

I tried the same thing with the punctuation in the blog posting but no luck. I think there are spaces missing. the trick is figuring out where spaces should go. right?

Yeah I tried various translations as well but no luck...if there's a trick to finding where the spaces go, I'd like to know...it took me forever to try and get those translations right without skipping one and having to go back, etc. etc. Razz OCD!

new blog post

Hey, there's a new blog post up with a hidden message
, ,.,, ,. ,,, . .. , ,,, ,,, ,. .., , ,., ,,. ,,, ,,,, , .,, .., ,. ,., .,,, ,.,, , .,, ., … ,. ,, .. ,.,, ,, . . ,.,, , , .. ,. ,, ,.,,
if you highlight.

I get this to be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

morse code for

LASTMESSAGERUSHEDGARBLEDNTAIMLITTLEEMAIL

Although this is garbled too,
NTAIMLITTLEEMAIL
NT AIM LITTLE EMAIL ?
maybe it's supposed to be not aim, and asking saying she can email some?

got the first blog entry with morse code.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
i am being watched closely no aim little(?) email

i found the spaces to be the times when there was more than one word between each morse symbol...so the groups of morse symbols are each letter.

some of them though are messed up. like...'watched' is obviously what she is trying to write, but the system of spaces is not correct.

"i am being" is perfectly spelled

"closely no aim" is perfectly spelled

"email" is perfectly spelled

littye is the word that was given according the morse code...i assume she meant little?

if you combine the post above this one, and this one, its obvious she meant

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
no aim little email for the garbled portions

so her total message in the first morse code blog entry is

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I am being watched closely no aim little email

i sent her this message:

Quote:
indeed, providence. i. have discovered, that you, were. just fine, with. your, spacing and, that it, was, me, who, was incorrect, i am sorry, about. that, so instead, of an. english grammar. book. is. there some, other, type, of, book that, we can, get. for, you, or anything, at. all. that, you need

i had previously sent her an email inquiring about 'weird spacing' or something to that effect. she sent me one back saying that groups of words can be spaces too. at any rate. lets see what she says.

oh, my coded message said: we are here to help

New web post!

Looks as though all this "apples and bananas" might translate to morse code. Although I cant see any way of dividing the letters yet.

I'll have a little stab around with things, but I am a total amateur Smile

--edit--

Ok, so I realized that its probably more likely to be binary. By converting Banana's to 1's and Apple's to 0's and get this:

Yeah, I tried binary too and got the same thing. Converting it into morse code leaves two possibilities, either:

Apples=dots
Bananas=dashes

or

Apples=dashes
Bananas=dots

Unfortunately I suck at decoding morse, so what I'm going to do is give you guys the conversions and see what you guys can make of it.

EDIT: Gah, broke the h-scroll. Code removed. If you want to give decoding it a shot and don't want to convert it yourself, drop me a PM and I'll send you the conversions I did.

im thinking maybe binary this time. let see!

nope, not binary. i tried it with bananas = 1 first and then with apples = 1

binary translator didnt take it

incidentally: the only characters in it are 'apples' 'bananas' ' and '...a space before and after each and. no odd spacing or anything at all...no hidden characters in her text.

i dont know what else it could be though other than binary. we have basically 2 units: apple, banana. with ' and ' between each, with no deviation other than the occurance of apples and bananas.

edit: cant be morse. we learned that morse code requires spacing, and there is absolutely nothing in this to indicate any kind of spacing whatsoever. in binary the spaces are put right into the code so it can be one long continuous stream.

but then, it doesnt work either way as binary :/

No way to decode it as Morse unless you have spaces between sets to mark individual letters.

ETA - blog post changed, no more 'ands'

so i tried taking the new blog post and doing the same thing...replacing bananas with 1, and then replacing apples with 1.

no dice either way.

then i noticed that when pasted into a word processor, there is a new symbol.

kind of like a dark mark instead of a space, followed by a space.

there is a copy and paste of it between this line and my previous line. i dont know if it will come up visible or not.

at any rate, when i did that, and replaced all the words with numbers...i discovered that they made perfect vertical lines, seperating all the words.

so i tried going down one of the lines, using each word as 1.

still no dice, but at least this time it makes symbols. i think ill post what each of the lines are, maybe they are one of those rot-9 things or whatever? i dunno.

PS: might have to highlight my post to see the dark mark i am referring to

edit: hmm...the message board edits out the symbol. maybe my word processor is just picking up a weird symbol that providence's word processor used?

also, i was wrong with the vertical lines of text instead of horizontal. several of the 'words' would end in 0, which doesnt work in binary. also, they are all indentical lengths...which...would be very very coincidental.

I'm not seeing any dark mark when I paste it into Word, but if it's there, maybe it's meant to be spacing for morse code?
