ARGwiki

Okay, I've started a wiki, called ARGwiki, for everything ARG-related: http://argwiki.wikispaces.com/

...That's about it. Smile

Hi there! An ARG wiki is a terrific idea. Track old games, keep everyone up to date, be a little complimentary side community to unfiction and despoiler. I mean- despoiler is a wiki- you know, for... for ARGs and stuff... but- this is different, I'm sure. Good on you for starting it up.

*snaps fingers*

Crap. Almost forgot. http://wikibruce.com. Sorry dude. Too good an idea not to have already been done. Good effort, we'll get you some more minutes in the next game, I swear.

*totally sports-like butt pat*

Have a seat.

ETA: Today is an extra snarky day. Sorry you've caught the brunt of it.

Despoiler also has wiki resources available. This is not Highlander. There can be more than one.

There appear to be no rules on how many resources may be created (and in what form -- we also have journalistic resources like ARGnet, ARGnestcast, and Rowan's Dead Drop Twitter and site) to support ARG playing and management of in-game assets and analysis.

Necessity, community, and accessibility are the more significant factors in maintaining resources, not how many there are, and where.

Well when it's worded like that, rather than, "I made this, here," I could understand(provided that it treads different land than existing, more widely used mediums).

I guess when I think about it like my brain just did- "google. yahoo. msn. altavista. ask," there are lots of sites that do the same thing, just some are more widely preferred. Now- if E.Y.E. Spy's site is going to dig more in depth to areas that Mr. thebruce's site doesn't- more power to him, and best of luck. Now that I think about it- it'd be interesting to see a site dedicated to the breakdown of in-depth look at characters, actors portraying those characters, etc- THAT would be something I'd want to see.

Just saying, as it stands, thebruce's wikis are synonymous with ARG and wiki. I don't really see that changing much- and I hope E.Y.E. Spy doesn't get his/her feelings hurt if it doesn't take off as expected.

Ha, there was a bet on who was gonna make the first snarky comment. I was one of the front runners. I agree with krystyn that resources are a good thing... but to take 2 seconds to register a wiki and say "Look what I've created!" is kinda... well.. lame.

The nature of these games means that the big, blank slate of the world affords us a myriad of opportunities. It's up to us to take them, or snark at them.

And yet, it appears those archives only go back to 2006. There have been lots and lots of resources over time. Many people considered Cloudmakers a definitive resource model for a few years until CMS' like wikis and blogs and forum software became more user-friendly and/or available. BACK IN MY DAY, PEOPLE HAND-WROTE ANCHORED TAGS AND LONG-ASS TRAILS, AND WE LIKED IT!

Predicating your hopes upon your initial post in this thread provide conflicting impressions, I must say. Rolling Eyes
