From the hint, where Daley Thompson (thanks driz!) won a gold medal in the Decathlon with a score of 8797 (from hint, can vary based on source).

I just came post #27 - good work!

Any ideas on how some of these clues are actually supposed to help?

Location: Where the cheese is free.

The filming locations from Casino Royale sure seems to include a lot of these places.

#18 http://bible.ckoma.net/jos/20/7?version=ukjv think that might be what the clue is referring to it does list 3 mountains there's also 3 number clues.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Tabor that i think is the 1st mountain i'm not sure if i'm heading in the wrong direction with this i can kinda see some sort of city on top of a mountain in the picture i could be completely wrong

Just found this i was looking for lighthouses and WF which is included in the clue to 3 of the 4 lighthouses could be completely off track.
"Also included is a one-page holograph letter from the Atlantic Steam Engine Works to W. F. Reynolds, engineer of the Fourth Light-House District in Philadelphia (dated May 16, 1876)."

#42 might it be Erwin Schrödinger who won the nobel prize in 1933?

This is the last of the sports themed ones, haven't figured out what the 78369 is yet.

Yes, excellent work on that lighthouse!

Also, I find it interesting that #24 is a house by Ken Shuttleworth, given that the clue for #46 is:

Code:
HTROWELTTUHSTHGIR
WREISUBROCABAYACA

KMx15

and if you read the first two lines backwards you get:
ACAYABA
CORBUSIER
WRIGHT
SHUTTLEWORTH

who were/are all architects.

EDIT: and this information led me to identify #2 although I can't find the lat/long yet: http://www.brindilles.net/olga-marcos-acayaba/

According to the source on THIS page...

http://www.marcosacayaba.arq.br/lista.projeto.chain?id=18

...the location is:

Jardim Vitória Régia - Săo Paulo, SP

...which isn't coming up properly on Google Earth, at least. We're close, though. Nice find!

On the clues... I'm thinking within each set, the clues are in the same format (the lighthouses are the obvious example). Using the movie ones we have so far (The Exorcist, Amityville, Mad Max) can we find out what those numbers have to do with the locations, and work it the other way for the other movies (Clockwork Orange, Casino Royale)?

ETA: At a complete guess, is it number of seconds? So what's happening in Mad Max at 1:16:26?

Well, some people upthread mentioned the "mysterymap" user on YouTube, but I didn't think much of it until I realized that the clue for #12 was a YouTube file id:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC0og6xVhLU

It zooms in right on that island...

EDIT: oops I just looked back and saw this was already posted. My bad, hard to keep track.

The location I found that worked for that was a user submitted entry in to Google Earth that was the location where Max "begins his revenge." I could be wrong, but I somehow don't think that's an hour in to the movie. Confused

And, like I said, Clockwork Orange is my favorite movie of all time, and I've found and tried every location I can think of (the apartments, the record store, the prison, even the hotel window Alex jumps out of near the end) except for the house in the rape scene (which who knows if that's a real house or not).

For Casino Royale it's well documented what the location is, but I can't find a precise set of coordinates for it. These coordinates need to be pretty much dead on; I haven't figured out what range of error there is, but if the Mad Max coordinates are any indication (lots of them were close together, in and around the same town in Australia), it ain't much.

ETA:
In The Exorcist, the entire movie is in Georgetown, Washington. The coordinates that worked are the city coordinates in Wikipedia, which obviously wouldn't match to filming locations. Perhaps that's all it takes?
