Folding@Home Is anyone else Folding@Home ? It's distributed computing, much like Seti@Home, but instead of searching for extraterrestrial life, this program is trying to cure diseases.
I've set up an Unfiction group for anyone interested in donating CPU cycles for this cause.

Awesome! I've been a part of team hack-a-day for a while, but I'd be happy to put some cycles into unfiction. Rock on Jamesi!

I too have been Folding@Home since January. A fellow uF member asked me to join his team. I thought a Team Unfiction would be a great idea. Thanks for starting it.

ok, I just have to say that I started doing this a while ago thanks to the geeks2go folks. What I was doing a tech thing? Yes, I was. But I will try to stop with them and do the unfiction group if I can figure that out.

From the F@H icon in your systray, right click and select configure. On the User tab, just change your current team number to the team unfiction number, 69464.

I'm an old seti@home processor that kinda started wondering why I was doing it and haven't been active for a few years.
I tried to get involved in the 13thlabour project but the client kept bringing down my machines. So, I'll give this a shot. Sounds like a very worthy cause.
Rose: If you run the non-GUI client with the -config switch, it'll let you set-up your UserID and Team(69464) fairly easy.
I tried the Windows GUI and it (for me) was a little too intrusive on system resources. The non-GUI isn't as pretty, but is quite a bit faster and is pretty non-intrusive.
Every once in a while it seems to cause an IE instance to hang but I just close that browser session and reopen it and the problem goes away.
jamesi: You must be working on a really nasty work unit.

I've been folding for a good while now but since my upgrade to vista the random crashes have been nuking my work units (everytime windows crashes you lose all progress on the current unit). If I can actually get my client producing again I might be able to contribute a bit to the UF team, I'm currently folding for Custom PC but I doubt they need my WUs as much as UF does

Oh, joy! I was wondering where I might find the perfect team (now that I'm using my PS3 and folding away), so I Googled Folding@home Unfiction, and bingo! Joining!
Edit: Any idea how I get my name added to the list of honor on the Unfiction team's section of the Stanford site? I've completed a WU and refreshed the site, but... no Mokey there...
Edit again: Hehe. Nevermind! I was too fast for my own good! I'm up there now. Rockin' out at 1 WU.
