This looks really interesting and I'm reading through the wiki right now. I see all the comments about Pastry Wars and the 48 page thread is scaring me a bit. Do I need to know all about that to participate here?

I'm signing up as a Bringer of Light (I think it'll be better for my self esteem! Laughing

Just throwing things out, but on February 14, 2008, there was a shooting at Northern Illinois University that killed 5 people. Info from wiki here. I didn't find anything especially noteworthy for Sept 1, 1975, though.

Well from what I can see this looks as though it was a plane crash. The 'dot' takes off from an airstrip on "Dickinson Island" and crashes at the X. Not sure of the relevance of the insets, except to give us Knoxville.
