EDIT: Well, I just had a look at the Bluegenics site. If Christopher Rybeck is indeed the founder of the Lightbringers (which I read somewhere on this thread) and the Director of R&D at a genetic engineering lab, with slogans such as "Working for a better humanity" and "Better Science for a better humanity", I at least am growing sort of suspicious about whether we're actually on the good side.

whenever i hear things like "working for a better humanity", something inside me twitches... and visions of eugenic freakiness emerge.

@Desertilluminati: Exactly what I mean.

Does anyone think it'd do any good to inquire at bluegenics about their security system under a pretext (don't know, maybe a worried potential client with a "delicate" project, or someone interested in experiences with the system)? It's not exactly subtle, I'll admit.
As someone at the Umbrati said, there's a "Level One Encryption Key" for download at the bluegenics site, and German wikipedia led me to think it could be UUencoded, but I tried decoding it via webutils.pl; and found nothing - though I may just have done something wrong, of course.

It's not *really* our part of the story, what with us being the lighties and all, but I definitely want to find out more about this Rybeck character and his motives before "committing" to one side.

I apologize if I'm being stupid, but this is my first ARG, I'm not quite sure what kind of things you're supposed/not supposed to do, and I'm terribly excited about the story Wink

OK I downloaded that file too...and all I was able to open it with was excell..but its all symbols and gibberish.

So I have sent 2 emails to bluegenics.
The first one to the tech asking about opening the file.
And the second to the info email to have a sales representative contact me regarding their products.

If I get a response I will post it here.

EDIT: Here is the repsonse I got from the tech help from bluegenics regarding the Level One Encryption Key:

Quote:
The encryption keys are usable only within the BlueGen Encryptor and for use solely for communication between BlueGenics corporate personnel and our clients.

If you are an existing client of BlueGenics, please contact your sales representative and download the application through the product's website, or contact BlueGenics Customer Support at supportSPLATbluegenics.com.

Thank you.

Like I said I have written to supportSPLATbluegenics.com and am waiting for an answer from them.

I have a question, I'm relatively new to ARG's and very new to participating at this deep a level, anyway my question is how much "digging" is acceptable/expected?

I found this: http://www.bluegenics.com/Download.aspx (No spoilers that I saw) and it just kinda struck me that I'm digging too deep.

Didn't really tell us anything, other than that it's being hosted by the PM, although we already knew for sure this was BoL/SiD related. (Right?)

Just curious...

(Also brings to mind what happened over at the TrueBlood ARG where I pretty much hacked their system even though all i did was change a URL and had no way of knowing for sure I wasn't supposed to be there.)

well, brute forcing the system isn't the really best thing to do when IG sites are available..

Guess I'll just sit back and watch what others do for now then. (How is changing a URL "brute forcing" the system? Razz)

(That's all it was, it just struck me that I wasn't supposed to be there when I saw it for some reason. I never said there was anything important there Razz)

That reminds me, I've seen others taking apart .swf files, which is way more in depth than anything i've ever done...

Here's what i think of all this up to now...just talking out loud here:

Ok so Jean and Patrick are in love.
Patrick works for bluegenics, not Jean.
He leaves on the 14th of february 2008 from Knoxville airport to get to La but never makes it.
So probably dies at the X spot from airplane crash.
So Jean would be our weeping hearth and Patrick the fire that burns (dying in the fire of his plane crash)
SO he was 32 years old when he died.

So what I think next is that bluegenics got rid of him (the planecrash wasnt an accident). And now chiaro.obscuro wnats us to uncover the thruth for some reason. And now we need to find a way to get into bluegenics to get some information.

EDIT: the only way I can fit the lightbringer and umbrati in this is that maybe Patrick uncovered some things about them and that the reason that bluegenic got rid of him (Christopher Rybeck being in bluegenics and lightbringer)

Any one have any more ideas or a different view on this?

That's pretty much what I was thinking, except that it's Jessica.

Yes you are right coffeebean

The reason I was saying Jean is that the letter was adressed to Jean.
And the enveloppe to Jessica???

Wonder why? Does it mean something? Are they not the same person?
I can't figure out why.

So maybe the things in the message to Jessica/Jean - the book, the business card, the letter, the photo - contain info about the "things he uncovered" and may therefore be the reason for Monaghan's fiery demise?

Edit: "Jean" actually looks like "Jess" on the photo, anyway, so it's probably just misspelled by the guy who referenced the letter.
