THIS one's interesting... dedicated to the old Cloverfield ARG, and references a whois lookup for a japanese domain with the same address. the site was boldfutura.jp but it is no longer working...

Are True Blood and Cloverfield connected in any way?

Boldfutura.jp was a bad attempt at gamejacking and had nothing to do with Cloverfield. The Bold Futura subsidiary of Tagruato never had its own site.

Regarding the first letter

http://www-hep2.fzu.cz/~piska/cuneiform/akkixref.pdf

The symbols have MUTIPLE possible translations/meanings/sounds making this impossible without a professional or a whole lot of time.

Hi, everyone,

As far as why the Japanese site Chishio.jp exists, in the Southern Vampire books, which the show True Blood is based on,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the Japanese invent a synthetic blood that vampires can drink instead of human blood and one of the synthetic brands is TrueBlood.

Yes exactly, but we were asked last night, what qualities might make us worthy of learning about the True Blood or talking about it, or whatever. but the answer we need is to the question:

What makes us worthy, what qualities do we have?

Hi, everyone

A fan of the books! Welcome, you're from the charlaine harris web site aren't you? You're insights could definitely be useful although I think the TV show is really going in a different direction than the books, the term "blood copy" isn't in the books right?

We'd already figured out where the name chishio came from and what it meant and all that, what we need to know is why a vampire would need a synthetic, and like shane said, what would make us worthy to enter a special vampire forum?

Also I'm curious, how does one become a vampire in the Southern Vampire mythos?

In the Charlaine Harris books, different to other authors mythos,an unusual mortal can have a "blood bond" with a vampire.

This not only fosters a mutual amenity but also allows the mortal to run with the pack(so to speak),fight common enemies and become worthy of insider information and interaction.

Very interesting. But, every time we said we were human she would hang up, or sometimes she'd call us human and hang up. If there were humans that are worthy I wouldn't have expected that.

That sounds like the right direction, but we need to figure out exactly what we would need to say to the gatekeeper to prove ourselves worthy...

Yes, I'm a member at the Charlaine Harris boards.

The first season of the show is going to follow approximately what happened in the first book, with some differences.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the first book, we learn that vampires are now living among humans (owning businesses, working everyday jobs, etc.) because they no longer have to kill humans to survive. According to the books, vampires all over the world simultaneously proclaim via the media their existence and their wish to live out in the open and come out of hiding. All of the promotional stuff appearing on the internet now is probably related to the time when vampires "come out of the coffin," which is not discussed in much detail in the books; we just know that it has already happened. Blood Copy is not discussed in the books, and may be some sort of show or news program on which vampires are being interviewed in front of an audience.

As far as why you would need TrueBlood, if you were a vampire, you'd need it so that you wouldn't be tempted to drink from and/or kill humans. If you were a human, you wouldn't really need it, unless you were having a few vampire guests over for dinner, I guess Smile

I don't know about the worthiness question, though. There weren't any worthiness-type questions in the books. Perhaps the correct answer is in the 4 coded messages, in which case, I'm no help at all because I speak English with a little high school/college Spanish on the side. I'm waiting for the countdown to finish, to see what happens tonight. Maybe I'll have more suggestions then.

So you missed it last night? It's rather different than we expected, you can read through our descriptions of what happened earlier on in this thread. I'd start on page 9 for our discussions on the gatekeeper (the woman who sits in the chair at revenantones.com) (direct link to page 9 http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25684&highlight=chishio&start=120 )

I'm just trying to get you up to speed, but if you'd rather go at your own pace and see it all for yourself then just ignore what i said above. Smile

Oh, but if you want to talk to the gatekeeper I HIGHLY recommend having a mic available to talk to her, and at one point she said she wouldn't talk to people she couldn't see so a web cam might be good to, but then later she did let me talk to her without one so...

P.S. I'm going to be away for the next 3 hours or so, so no one find anything while I'm gone Wink

Yeah, I just found out about revenantones.com today. Thanks for the link. I read through the posts of what the gatekeeper said, and I still can't tell what the correct password or answer is. It could be just about anything, from "My friend Eric the vampire sent me" to "Open sesame!" Unless it's something as simple as saying that you need TrueBlood because you're a vampire.

I think I'm out of luck as far as getting to talk to her. I don't have a webcam or a mic on my computer. I thought I'd be able to type my answers to her questions. Sad

Is it possible to use that pdf in conjunction with one of these Akkadian dictionaries (link or link) to translate it?
