One must have the key

That's just a little glaring to me, which is probably why I'm stumped - thinkin too hard.

Assessment:

1. Packages come with bookmark with code. Code resolves to location package was sent from, which leads to a website with same code and a login.

2. Packages come with button with more apparent font, and a runic style code. Code resolves to location package was sent from, which leads to a website with no code, and a login.

3. Lightbringer Society flash contains hidden herring suggesting the path to the light need not hide in the shadows.

4. Umbrati has jpg image, named "home" and an ALT of "to be one with the dark, one must have the key"

Okay, since these came with a code, that code needed a key to be read at all, which was the location of the alleged sender - or the abbey. The Lightbringer Society page image is an abbey corridor - the path to the light.

The image on the Umbrati site is the earth in shadow, the sun rays...suggesting eclipse/astronomy. The button with the font and code also shows some sort of nebula or whatever, hard to make out but it's a cosmic thing.

What was the location for the Umbrati lead? Was there anything else in the packages that might suggest a key? If not, it seems to me the key is on the page, which would have to be the imagery used.

Other than that, no idea.

EDIT - the font key you just posted hit me again...we need the key. So what alphabet might we be looking at, the runes or the stylized one (don't know what it is)....or maybe the letters/numbers we don't have could be put together some way as a password?

If not that then maybe there are more packages to be arriving soon on both sides with more to it, something to be used as a key?

I noticed the pin isn't completely in english, and yet we could pretty much guess what it said. The C-like things are S's and the weird Y like thing was an F, and the upside down L like thing was a G. The triangle-thing is a D...

I know Coffeebean is working on this alphabet all ready just trying to add (This might be trout worthy). Also, the P like thing is a R. Other than that, I'm stumped. Does it want us to work together with the Lightbringer Society, to somehow get a key?

"The Light is the key to darkness" Laughing not to think Kingdom Hearts here.

Right, I hope that sounded clear. I'll be here thinking.

I've been looking through all the runic alphabets I have (quasi-pagans ftw) and haven't found one that matches the one we're looking at. Some that have a symbol or two in common, yeah, but nothing that matches.

I will continue the search!

That would leave the contacts then...because they go directly to the domain itself, not the location.

We need a key...as for the abovw question, I'm cool with working together to help both sides until we get some directive to quit Laughing

Was just looking at different variations of a 'key'. Came across this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_%28cryptography%29

Keys have some part to do with cryptography or some sort. I doubt it's important but one never knows.

Key also means 'a map legend or caption'.

OT: I put something funny you said in my signature, Karensa. Look! -points-

Definition of a Key Light: [quote[The key light is the first and usually most important light that a photographer, cinematographer, or other scene composer will use in a lighting set-up. The purpose of the key light is to highlight the form and dimension of the subject. [/quote]

I just found that interesting. Key...Light. Yeah. Embarassed

yep, legend or caption.

Umbrati image is named Home

Not sure what the flash file was named or the one embedded

I did give cammo and stegspy a run with the jpg image and unless I did it wrong, both said nothing was in the pic

Ok, now for a techhie question - out of my league

In Umbrati site's source there is this code:

Quote:
input type="hidden" name="__EVENTVALIDATION" id="__EVENTVALIDATION"

value="

/wEWAwLTut6OBAKu2uCCAwKBk/m1C+Kcgg6JdwXF5s+15l3xMkT9845U

the bolded in particular. I gather this is just encryption for the password, but I was wondering if there is any way to look at this format and determine the format of the password. It's the + signs in there that sort of hit me that it's got 3 parts or segments since the rest are numbers and letters... so do the / and + necessarily suggest some format here or is that just standard encryption usage?

Random thought. Must be brief though, posting from phone.

Lightbringers was linked to Freemasons, right? Umbrati sounds like some kind of reverse Illuminati. Yay conspiracies!

Now that you mention it, I did google "Key to darkness" and found "Turning the Hiram Key". I googled "Hiram Key" and found some book on freemasonry.

True, but for the official record, there are other lightbringers that have nothing to do with masons....and the Umbrati has a strong lore tie to world of darkness - the vampires who are creatures of night and shadow, who rely on it - so this one's got me intrigued at the ultimate direction it may take.

Ok, it's definitely not Gaelic (am Irish lol)

It looked like runes to me, but it could also be futhark which is the Viking alphabet. I can't really look into it now for you guys, as I'm only awake and just into work. Thought the suggestion might help though.

Thank you Misstiggy for your contribution and suggestion. I did some googling and after some checking confirmed it is not Futhark, but seems to be a combination of different runic languages (Or just plain made up, as Karensa has said via yahoo~)

^^ We'll keep looking, have a nice day at work.
