 		Good point. The only thing I can think of there is that the other girl (I'll call her Otra for now, for ease of reference) is an easier sell than Jessica/Valenti. Jessica is already kinda friends with LB. We have a picture of her with Katia (according to the wiki, I haven't read the LB thread) and she's apparently shaping up to be a natural Beacon, which seems it should be where LB gets their power from.

Otra, on the other hand, doesn't "act the type". She must have had some kind of power to her for the LBs to consider her a prospect, but she doesn't act the way a Beacon of Light should. Judging from that chat, the main reason the LBs aren't sure of our girl Otra is because she doesn't play nice with the other kids. If you had two magically powerful girls, one of which obeys teacher and the other who skips class to go play pool shark, which would be harder to recruit for the dark side? ;D

and if so we should focus on getting on the umbrati site (why are we still not on it -_-) and find info about Otra and get to her before the LBs

After hitting back again, you'll notice it's added to your inventory at the top of the screen

EDIT: "To be one with the dark, one must have the key", perhaps?
