If the removal of the video is IG, then odds are there's going to be a lot of things they're not going to do, seeing as how they need to carefully maintain a facade in which some shadowy corporation has control over Youtube videos.

On the other hand, if Youtube actually is removing this guy's videos, the best thing to do is simply host them somewhere else.

That's precisely what I was thinking, SouthLandLabs is supposed to have control over Youtube, otherwise, there's no way they'd be able to do that. They're probably watching Owen's every move. They'd probably watch both the original video and the replacement made later, erasing the second one afterwards, thus, rendering the idea of video replacement useless. Not like it was a bad idea, I bet it works just fine for "real world" youtube xD

OOG Note: if said company had any power over youtube, wouldn't they have the same power over blogspot, since they're both owned by Google?

That'd be a "yes". But you've gotta draw the line somewhere. A shadowy corporation with control over the media can't be allowed to stifle communication.

Remember the #1 rule of fiction: if the author wants something to happen, it will. If they want something to not happen, it won't. They are creative God.

I was thinking that too. I can't find any grounds as to why Youtube would, itself, delete the videos. I wouldn't imagine it would go over any boundaries. So it must be part of the ARG,

Look at Rekidk's post in page 6 for a recap on the sotry so far and characters. Joss Whedon is the showrunner (meaning he's producing/directing/scripting and so on, besides having the original idea). Remember this is a viral campaign for a TV show, Dollhouse.

EDIT:

Heh, that's a given, but it just kind of breaks continuity for me. I'm obsessed by this sorta details, being a writer and all (not a particularly good one, though xD). Too much of a perfectionist, perhaps?

There seems to be some source code on the southlandlabs.com site...I know there was zero code yesterday. I don't know much about it...but I guess I am lame and I can't seem to get it to post. It wants to not show half of it.

Glad to see Dollhouse ARG
38,573,000 Civilians Died

Hey guys!

I'm still curious to know how this blog "38,573,000 Civilians Died" posted at Fox:

http://www.fox.com/futurefox/blogs/index.php/2008/05/22/38573000-civilians-died/

How is this related to Dollhouse? Or am I chasing the wrong bush/tree/stump?

IMHO, I think Fox was just tagging it this way to get the most publicity out of the most fandoms. The potential Holomove arg can't be truly associated with all of those shows, unless they are just that damn ambitious.
I came to that realization while trying to figure out what the "boldly going" tag is for, since that is the only post with that tag. I finally came to the realization that they are appealing to all forms of sci-fi fans and who better to snag than us Trekkies? "Boldly going where no man has gone before..." and what not.

At least, that's what I think, but I could just be cynical.
Smile and cheers,
Kayti

"Boldy Going" refers to the space comedy Fox is developing, "Boldly Going Nowhere" (by the guys who did It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

The post was tagged with most (all?) the Fox sci-fi properties we know about for the coming year.

Remember rule #1 of interactive fiction: if the players come up with a good plan, reward them. I don't know if it will work, but trying could be helpful and it costs us nothing.
