Hm, out of curiosity- is there anyone else out there who received all the other e-mails but not this most recent one (8-14)?

That would be me. Not sure why.

I received all the other ones but not this one.

Does anyone know someone who got this e-mail, did they go to Comic-Con?

Yeah Sam, from the wording, it looks like you had to be at Comic-Con to get this latest email.

@ Shaggy: You're quite welcome. Glad I could at least try to get a solution, but I just don't know where to start really. Since it is most likely a coding problem somewhere, I'm kinda stumped on it 'cause I'm more of a hardware guy(building PC's, troubleshooting parts) than software. The last bit of advice I can give you is maybe reinstall the browser if possible, and definitely reinstall the flash plugin, if you haven't already(can't remember if you said you did or not). Wink As a last resort, you can always try to reformat the HD and reinstall the OS.

So, looking again at the content of that e-mail, it occurs to me to wonder if there's something I've been missing in that test.

8-14 e-mail wrote:
Early eligibility test results at Comic-Con did not live up to expectations but following my frank and fair comments at a sponsored panel discussion, there was a remarkable improvement in results. This pleasing display of courage and determination is, in part, the reason for this correspondence.

I would like to commend the efforts of all recruits at Comic-Con and feel extremely confident in forecasting that the upcoming stage of the testing process will be a great success.

The language and tone imply that applicants can control how well they do on this test, that it's not just random, but that there are right and wrong answers to those seemingly open-ended questions. I'd previously been taking the tone as a joke, but I wonder if they're not trying to tell us that that's where our puzzles are.

Yeah, that actually occurred to me as well when I took the test on DWY(dot)com. Especially when the image of the spine came up and one of the answers that you could give as to what the pic made you think of was "guitar". I wonder if they want like the most abstract answers or something. It just seemed a bit odd that one of them was not the "correct" answer.

Yup, the whole guitar thing we discussed earlier---when it flashed quickly in the video, I *thought* the spines were guitars. However, when I took the test they clearly were not.

I approached the test in this manner: The intro on the site is upbeat, asking for applicant's that want to make a difference. I used that tone for my answers. There seemed to be an "upbeat" answer, a "pessimistic" answer, a "funny" answer, and a "literal" answer for the most part. I chose either the upbeat or the literal, hoping for some sort of scientific assessment. For example, with the Big Bad Wolf and Red Riding Hood, I answered with "opportunity" because they looked like they could be having a chat. I did not answer "danger" because I thought they probably want folks that will blindly follow along and not listen to their instincts. The only one that I didn't use that theme was the turtle question, because the only way I would NOT help an animal is if it were already dead.

So, for better or for worse, I passed. I can't wait to see which directions our responses take us all.....that is going to be as interesting as any actual puzzles.

Oops, sorry to dredge it up again then. I guess though, after 70 pages worth of discussion, some things are bound to be repeated. Embarassed

I think I answered "opportunity" on Red Riding Hood as well, though I can't quite remember for certain. I thought of the "funny" answers you mention as being more of what I would call abstract, "thinking outside the box" answers. At least that's how I would label them.

I've been checking the DWY site practically every day since launch and have never had any problem viewing it. Even earlier today. Now it's just the blue background with a very quick flash of a few circles within circles, then just the background again.
