I vote we hold back on giving the PM's shit for a game that hasn't actually started yet.

Word. Since--unless I'm mistaken--there aren't any actual clues or arrows pointing us to http://dharmawantsyou.com/site/, it seems harsh to judge Hoodlum for what happens when we go there.

Aside from a few initial growing pains, I don't really remember many errors in Find815. I think, overall, it had some pretty high production values (excepting the errors in the first chapter or so.) Unfortunately, I would only loosely define Find815 as an ARG. The experience was pretty much "on rails"--which is not to say I disliked it. It was a good diversion and some decent storytelling, although a true players-make-decisions-ARG it was not.

But I agree that we should hold off judgment until the game itself actually launches. Remember: the error is in a subdirectory that isn't explicitly linked to from anywhere. Viewing the source of the main page shows you that the folder exists, but nothing actually links there yet.

Exactly.

Also, it doesn't matter that the site hasn't gone live yet because it's still Monday. It will be Monday for about 12 and a half more hours. So just hold on and if it's anything like Find815 we know it will give us something to hold us over inbetween seasons of the most addicting show ever on television.

At least they are giving us something to do that involves the show inbetween seasons. They don't have to.

And as for Find815 having a bunch of problems as people are putting it, I didn't find that it had many problems beyond some of the flash games freezing. The "game" was well thought out and fun to follow along with.

Smile

I agree, it's great that they are giving us something to do, all for free Smile

I didn't mean to sound as if I was disparaging Find815. It was fun and engaging. Good story line and I actually cared (as much as I can for fictional characters) about Sam and Sonia. I just went into Find815 after reading a lot about TLE (didn't get a chance to play it myself) and had a preconception of what it was going to be.I just hope for a less "on rails" experience this time around. But am more than happy with having anything LOST related to do during the hiatus. And I must say that the amount of stuff that TBTP at LOST give it's fan(atic)s is astounding and I, for one, greatly appreciate it.

I'm encouraged by the fact that there was that message in the source code of the email that was sent - that, to me, suggests this one'll be a little more user involving but, to be honest, find815.com was a very welcome distraction and I'd be happy if we're playing that level of game.

I noticed something small, but who knows if it's noteworthy so I thought I would post it anyway. when I went to the dharmawantsyou site before, they had a red flower like daisy in the name bar on top, now it's gone. I even tried book marking it again to see if it was just in my book marks but it's not there either anymore.

fwiw, you're looking at http://dharmawantsyou.com/not_yet.html instead of http://www.dharmawantsyou.com/not_yet.html -- the www makes a difference on some sites.

Awesome!

At least we're all on the same page as far being able to participate and play games for free.

Hopefully this one will be as involved as TLE but even if it's not, who cares it's still Lost related and always a blast to try and piece things together.

Still nothing as of 12:49pm........

I wouldn't worry too much.

They have been saying "limited time only" but I would assume that if it hasn't gone live yet and you will be home at 11 tonight, you should be fine.

I doubt that "limited time" means a few hours.

It probably means a few days and the number of registrants are unlimited. Remember this is all still advertising for a tv show. They want as much good PR as possible.

Very Happy

And yet oddly enough, the "not yet" message says DharmaWantsYou.com without the www. I'm hoping that one of these days web developers and system administrators worldwide will realize the redundancy of the "www." portion of the domain name. Smile ...or will at least provide a redirect to the definitive with-or-without-www domain name; all of my sites shoot you over to the non-www spelling of the domain if you accidentally typed it in for some reason. Please! Somebody stop me before I go off on my rant about how the double-u-double-u-double-u is 9-syllable shorthand for the 3-syllable term "world wide web."

AnNNNd, for what it's worth, I do not concur with BrianEnigma regarding no-www.
Redirects to authoritative, yes. www-irrelevant? No :)

Time Killer
Fun fact while we are waiting....

I am bored....so I went to look at the Activities folder again. One thing I saw should make us all feel proud.....

There is a string for Google Analytics, and Unfiction is specifically mentioned! Guess it's either so they can keep track of what we are doing, or it's because that is where *I* tread last.....anyway, thought it was fun.

Not that it really matters to the game but I think that this is Dan Bronson. scloskey60 at Lostpedia forums first noticed him in a Chuck ep (chuck vs. the crown vic) and Tresbien at ITE helped finding the iMDb page.

And there may be an 'insider' posting on the DarkUFO forums, as DuaneIsInsane.
