Finally@! I've been waiting for a Lost ARG, I figured they would do another one since there is a 9 month wait and we have so many questions about Dharma still!

I am going to put my file checker up on this in a bit tonight and I will post a link, as for the flash files and everything else it seems that everything is clean and we just have a waiting period while they wait and hype it up.

The one interesting thing I found was this

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
//swf = "http://192.168.1.111:16080/projects/dev/cam/Lost_4.5/site/OGR_03.swf";

This is located in one of the main flash configs for the video, they commented this out and based on the ip address I am going to assume they forgot to take this out while they were developing and testing it locally. If not, they left this in to leave the obvious hint that it is related to Lost and definitely based on the .5 that it is going to be something between the 9 month wait for season 4 and season 5.

I cannot wait to see where they go with this!

Not only that, ziot, but does the filename there -- OGR_03.swf -- mean something? Because what's currently displaying on the OGR site, if I'm not mistaken, is OGR_01.swf, two increments back. It does suggest there are future incarnations of the site, no?

ETA: Hmm, maybe not. 01, 02, and 03 all appear to bring up the same site. But there is no 04. Why would there be three differently-named .swf files if they're all the same thing?

thanks, i just wanted to double check that that was for sure number 01. didn't know if i was missing something (i hate that feeling)
edit: i'm going to say that 01 02 and 03 bring up the same file, because they knew we'd get smart and made doubles in case we started snooping before they wanted us to... spoiler control.

I notice now that 01 is slightly different, in that the font next to the terms checkbox is larger.

That, of course, means absolutely nothing in terms of gameplay, heh.

Yay! A new LOST ARG! Very Happy
*dances a jig*

I've been a huge fan of Lost since the very first pilot episode, but somehow, never played any of the ARGs/AREs. I guess this will be my first Lost ARG. Awesome. If they happen to reference past Lost ARGs, well, I'll be kinda dumbfounded, as I have no idea what happened with any of the previous ones.

This will be my 2nd JJ Abrams ARG, my first being Cloverfield (or was that an ARE?)

Too bad the Cloverfield ARE/Whatever never got a satisfactory ending...just lots of dead-ends and pointless crap, like the Kishin mangas. LAME. I demand a true ending to the Cloverfield ARE, JJ! Now!

You do realize that Cloverfield is not over right?

Just so you all know... I tried to take the text

EABEJNCHDBEBMPZPPM

I converted each letter to a number in a simple A=1 substitution and got

51251014384252131626161613

I tried punching in latitude = 51.25101438425, longitude = 21.31626161613 into Google maps but that location (somewhere in Poland) doesn't mean much. It was just a hunch...

interesting note, if you flip them (lattitude becomes longitude) it puts you in the atlantic east of puerto rico, due noth of guyane. still probably nothing to do with anything

A little bit more interesting information now that I have had some time to set things up and take a look over them.

I'm running my file checker locally since I just rewrote it, so all I have for now is a screencap with hopefully updates as I see them.

From what I have gathered there is nothing quite hidden yet and we are just waiting for the game to start, but the detective in me decided to comb things over anyways.

The two domains that are here so far:

http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com
http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au

They both resolve too:

* Dns resolved octagonglobalrecruiting.com to 72.47.249.66
* Dns resolved octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au to 72.47.249.66

So there is no need to watch over the separate domains as they are the same files.

As far as the content on the website, they are setup with a php page to display a master flash file with a video swf/flv for the commercial and the two html files which are the privacy/terms which we have seen with the past few Lost ARGs.

Like I posted above, the only thing I really noticed out of the ordinary was the tidbit that I guess confirms it as an ARG/viral marketing for the period between season 4 and 5.

http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com/site/scripts/video_page.js @ Line 70

Code:
      //swf = "http://192.168.1.111:16080/projects/dev/cam/Lost_4.5/site/OGR_03.swf";

As stated before, this line of code is to display the master flash file for the main website and while they were developing the website they were testing it locally while they were editing the flash file. Chances are they either forgot to take out the comment or they left it in there as a little teaser or confirmation of things to come.

As for the flash files, they seem to have some sort of protection on them for the scripting, I have had no luck cracking it open but as far as I can tell they are just protecting the flv video code - I could be wrong though.

Anyone else notice anything?

Just because they have the same IP doesn't mean they have the same files. They could be virtualized; I have ten domains on the same IP.

There's some serious encryption in there, more so than makes sense for just video services. I have reason to believe there's a URL hidden in there, but the code is so massive it's virtually impossible to figure out.

Although I think the URL they are trying to hide is simply the URL that the email addresses are posted to.

A little bit more information on the domains (if you do some dns/whois lookups) they seem to have a couple more domains and a couple more files on the website.

http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com/crossdomain.xml

Code:
72.47.249.66
wdig.vo.llnwd.net
octagonglobalrecruiting.com
octagonrecruiting.com.au
octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au
octagonglobalrecruitment.com.au
octagonneedsyou.com.au
octagonwantsyou.com.au
octagonrecruiting.com
octagonglobalrecruiting.com
octagonneedsyou.com
octagonwantsyou.com

These are just allowed domains to access the email script.

Right, now that I think about that it, it is entirely possible for people to host multiple domains on a single host. At first I did not check the hosts for the domains and I added all of the files to the separate domains and they were all the same, so I just figured it was parked at the same location.

I just looked a little deeper into it and I can see bits of encryption like Blowfish. :~( Although if you look into the headers of when you register your email address, you can see that the information is being sent to index-evaluated.php encrypted.

twdaQirzv6ERwRp5hw%2Bm0Q%2BnBdfHfDEUbM9ACZ6o6iS&mode=com.inca2.proj
ect.site.videopage.storeemailaddress

I have seen INCA2 a couple times on the site, including there and in the PHP sessions, although I cannot seem to find any information on it.

Although it kind of seems like the website was thrown together, looking through the Privacy Policy page, a lot of the links do not even work as if the page was just copy and pasted and they took no effort to make the html pages look like the flash version.

I tried using Flare (an open source flash decompiler) and it crashed and burned? Why?

Code:
  // unknown tag 82 length 156 kilobytes

I think that would be our encryption.
