According to DarkUFO, it has been confirmed that Duane is fake. how they did that, I don't know.

DARKUFO said that they did "a series of investigative tasks including tracing his IP, email, ISP etc, and have found that he has nothing to do with the game."

WOW you guys....gone for one day and I have THREE pages to read.

My two cents:

1. Already called "shennanigans" on Duane several pages back. Still do.

2. SureFit is still up in the air. I live in CA, and *have* heard of them...scratch that, THINK that I have heard of them.....however I was under the impression that they were a "mom and pop" type business. I seriously doubt they'd try to mess up Disney. Having once upon a time been a Disney employee, I know how "all encompassing" they can be (and so does the rest of the state--again, not stupid enough to take on the Mouse). And frankly, I wouldn't put it past Disney to go to an employee (or supplier of set materials) and say, "Hey, you know that business your parents own? Well, we want to use them in our game, and they'll get all kinds of free publicity, plus we'll pay them (KA-CHING, KA-CHING) just to put a little logo on their website. We want to make our "fake" company look as real as possible and blur the line of reality for our fans." It is entirely possible it is a hint. Perhaps trying to get us to focus on THE PORTAL, and leave the Duane insanity behind? So this one I just can't rule out.

Wink

EDIT: I have to say the one thing that bothers me about the above theory is that the file name for their Dharma logo is MISSPELLED. I would think Disney would supply a graphic with the correct spelling, wouldn't they?

There are thing in this world that even Disney can't trademark.

If the Dharma logo was trademarked or the words copyrighted the would have the appropriate symbol on the Disney sites. I've never seen them.

new dharma logo

cygnus1119 wrote:
Hey guys. ARG virgin here. (Unless Find815 counts)

Has anyone taken a good look at the new Dharma logo? Maybe I'm over-thinking things a bit but I see letters there.

Starting at the 9 o'clock position I see "H" "U" "N" "V"(Maybe) "O" Possibly an "I" and then a "V" or an "N" depending on the rotation.

I tried to anagram a few combinations but came up with nothing.
(In English anyway)

As I said, maybe it's nothing but I thought it merited attention.

You know, I can't shake the feeling that the new logo is important, too! I don't think it's letters, it's still the trigrams from the original logo (the ba-gua feng shui compass), just more "stylized." The thing I noticed is that they are rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the original! Also, that when the logo itself is rotated (like when you click on a section to register or read about the DI), each trigram is on a different 3D plane (I figured out their order last night, but I'm at work and can't do a diagram right now). Some of the background images seem kind of "folded" onto themselves, too (on the left and the right- look under the "are you a new recruit button and maybe zoom in a bit). That's a strange design flaw to just leave out there.

I was one of the comic con recruits. As it has been stated before, we got a flyer with an oragami swan on the back and instructions on how to fold it (will try to post a pic of the swan soon). Any thoughts about "folding" this image somehow? What does a 90 degree rotation mean?

Oh, and hi everyone. I read a lot but don't post often! Smile

For your entertainment only ...
Hardly related to TLE3 or The Project ...

Hi sea_dot -

The new Dharma logo is about identical to the standard bagua apart from the 90 degree turn. The rotation is reminiscent of Ben's experience @ the wheel, but what does it mean ...
This is a picture/theory rollinrevue is workin' on - maybe it'll spark somethin' --> http://lostpedia.com/images/c/c9/New_Picture1.JPG

Yep ... lol

Since we have some down time, thought I'd throw these out there for those who haven't seen 'em, or those who have a few minutes to kill.

The specials today are HansoAir witha side of the attorney responsible for the Hanso/Oceanic merge, Mack Thompson Law. Attorney sites funnier imo ...

Quote:
It all started when Mack Thompson filed a civil suit against The Manville Corporation for hiding evidence that asbestos caused Mesothelioma lung cancer in thousands of people. During this case Mack Thompson made the famous quote," I have no idea what the hell Mesothelioma is, but the defendant knowingly hid evidence of the dangers of this asbestos cancer from the mothers of small children and infants."

Laughing

Pic of Mack's birth certificate ...

lol - Mack was adopted by Hanso Adoptions ...
Quote:
This birth certificate lists the birth date as September 7, 1916 but the seal is dated 1946. The certificate is clearly from Hanso Adoptions as evidenced by the seal.

Clearly ... Smile

Seems like an unofficial mini arg was being hosted by a Lostie at some point in Mack's blog. Someone called "Cuteasabug" starts exploring the geneology of the birth
certificate here and stumbles onto something ... freaked me out a lil' - lol
Quote:
I looked up the names from your birth certificate. From the Canadian Oliver family tree I found a William Oliver married a Mary Jane Brown but her date of death was in 1905. William is a descendant of James Oliver of the Scotland Olivers. I don't know if this is significant but here is a link to a page with a picture of his gravestone. Familiar shape?

Shocked

*disclaimer - just about this whole post is unrelated to TLE3, and whoever owns dem fansites has a buttload of google ads on 'em ...

WHOA!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Very cool on the headstone/genealogy.

For the letters on the logo, I get: H V N U O W N.

The reason for the V is that the break is farther down than on the U....standard in weird bubbled out fonts. Seeing the "hv" combination took me to the Icelandic language, but so far I haven't found a word like that.

Also, the W *could* be an " i i ".....

seems like unknown, although It's obviously not. We need someone to translate it to Icelandic, if it IS Icelandic.

I tried but it doesn't translate since it doesn't mean anything in Icelandic according to the translator.

The Unicode character set has characters for each of the eight trigrams at codepoints U+2630 to U+2637 --> http://unicode.org/charts/PDF/U2600.pdf

U-2638 is the Wheel of Dharma Wink

(nope - not kiddin')

I don't think they are letters. I think it is just a stylized version of the trigrams on the original logo - broken/unbroken lines without the gaps between them. If you rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, you get the same pattern- like an overlay.

Okay, I've never posted an image before, so please don't kill me if I do it wrong (and don't tell my boss Wink )

Too big? I'll fix it right away if it is!
Probably means nothing, but I thought it was neat anyway. Smile
