Re: [City Labyrinth] Los Angeles, CA
Revised proposal

Welcome, sockiboo! I'd love to do a run this Sunday if folks are up for it -- probably in the afternoon, to give those who have some distance to travel time to get here. Here is my revised proposed labyrinth, in a much safer area (West Hollywood). I hope Eli approves it.

Edit: Five circuits, 2.12 miles (18.45 stadia) wide, Omphastrength = 15.38

Re: [City Labyrinth] Los Angeles, CA
Revised proposal

Larissa has requested that we do the labyrinth on Saturday rather than Sunday. Input?

Also, Eli has approved the revised labyrinth, and made a rather interesting comment:

Eli Hunt wrote:
Hello Shadow,

That will do just fine. Good luck this weekend!

Be sure not to let that Kentaro fellow interfere with your labyrinth.

Sincerely yours,

Eli Hunt

Fascinating that he brought that up, eh? And we do know that Kentaro likes to spend his weekends wandering around labyrinths in the Los Angeles area, don't we?

So, does that possibility make anyone more interested in joining us on Saturday?

Since Larissa is intending to join you (2 hours ago she just tweeted " will tag along with Shadow to do the city labyrinth L.A, come join us at the Getty passengers pick up area 1p.m."), the probability that Kentaro will appear as well is pretty high, I guess.

During her first encounter with him, Larissa's own Chariton strenght has not been sufficient to worm all the secrets out of him. What's your own strenght, Shad0? How many will you be?

Khaos recommended duct tape - a somewhat nostalgic element. In James's case, it only worked because we were able to surprise him. Now it's probably vice versa, with Kentaro intending to sabotage/surprise OUR team. Do you have a plan? How much Chariton can you bring up? What could you appeal to when talking to him?

A recurring element regarding the athletes and their connection to this and other worlds is their relation to their family and loved ones. Since we know nothing about any close friends Kentaro has in this world, a we can contribute with is Noriko/Mihoko. By all means, don't forget to mention her!

Oh, no problem. That's why I always carry a loaded gun in my glove compartment.

KIDDING! KIDDING!

Okay, so it looks as if we'll be meeting at about 1:30 p.m. or so at the starting location, which is the intersection of West 3rd Street and North Gardner Street in West Hollywood. I recommend parking in Pan Pacific Regional Park and heading to its southeast corner. (UF afficionados may remember that this park was also the site of a live event in the Vanishing Point promotion, which is why I was pleased to be able to use it. My South Central labyrinth started in a place called Athens. Heh.) And yes, I will be picking up Larissa at the Getty Center around 1:00 p.m., so anyone who wants to meet us there can do so.

...boy, I sure hope Larissa meant the main Getty Center off of Sepulveda, and not the Getty Villa over on Pacific Coast Highway...

I'm Sophrosune (primarily; secondary Sofia, tertiary Chariton). So far I know of no one else planning to join us apart from sockiboo and spouse. I've sent email to celina63, HitsHerMark, and krystyn, but I'm not really counting on anyone else.

I don't plan to kidnap Kentaro and I don't think there's any reason for us to try, so I won't be bringing along any duct tape. The situation is entirely different than the one with James in San Francisco.

I've been trying to think like a member of TheO: If I wanted to interfere with the running of a city labyrinth, how could I do it? The labyrinth we've designed doesn't require us to leave the vehicle at any point, and I don't think that Kentaro would risk actively running another car off the road. The only thing that's occurred to me is that perhaps he could try to steal the Trackstick somehow... so I plan to keep it close.

Barring physical interference, the next most likely tack for Kentaro to try is attempting somehow to persuade us not to do it at all. And that conversation is one to which I would very much look forward. From what we know, Kentaro is the highest-ranking TheO member we've contacted directly. (We know that Renata was above James, because she recruited him; we also know that Kentaro recruited Renata, and that he was somehow interfering with Renata's ability to communicate with Larissa. It therefore stands to reason that he is above her.) As you may recall, I am pretty solidly convinced that TheO means well, but is just plain wrong on a couple of significant points. I'd welcome the opportunity to discuss it with a TheO authority, and see which of us comes out convinced that the other is correct.

Hmm, maybe I ought to try to put together an English translation of the entire Lost Ring Codex and bring it along...

A very good suggestion -- although from Larissa's previous encounter, it appears that Kentaro's primary feeling towards his big sister is disdain. Nevertheless, definitely worth bringing up if the conversation drifts that way. One other thing that might be worth mentioning is that, from what James told us, Kentaro originally joined TheO because he was extremely angry at not being able to go home four years ago. Well, these city labyrinths are building up a heck of an omph strength this year. And maybe he'd still like to go home?

I'll need to be very careful to remember not to say anything about James helping us. And I also figure that Larissa might have more to say to Kentaro (and vice-versa), so I'll be listening carefully to their interactions. Unfortunately I do not possess anything that can take a video, but I will be bringing a camera.

Edit: By the way, I don't think I ever thanked you properly -- if it weren't for you, I might not have thought to try placing a labyrinth in that West Hollywood area in the first place. So thank you!

I so hope you video tape your "TALK" with Kentaro cause it's gonna be priceless oration. You're probably one of the best options for that sort of mission. Nothing better than an attorney for talking around the topic. Laughing

Heh...I hope you guys don't get all psyched up for a confrontation with Kentaro only to have that not happen Razz...I kind of thought Eli's comment to watch out for Kentaro was tongue-in-cheek from a meta perspective (though certainly from an IG perspective Eli would be concerned that you be careful). Be ready, but don't be upset if he doesn't show.

Honestly, that was my first instinct too -- that Eli was just tossing in an in-character comment. And from an in-game perspective, there's really no reason (that I know of) that Kentaro would even know about us running the labyrinth, let alone know where to find us or have any way to interfere. Still, it certainly never hurts to try to be prepared...

see you soon

And HitsHerMark is coming! Yay! (But celina63 can't make it. Boo.)

i'm in, and will bring my (very non-fancy) pocket video camera. spouse is unfortunately called to work.

i live near(ish) the getty center on sepulveda, and could meet shadow and larissa there at 1:00. i'm smallish and red-haired. and, uh, female.

although, not sure anyone will check this forum again before the meet, so perhaps i should drive. hmm. in the spirit of collaboration, i'll plan to meet the group at the getty center, but if anyone cares to call and confirm, this is me: 917.566.6045.

yay!
