This was not a "Mission 4" email, which I am expecting here shortly. By the nature of the email, it seems like a definite "whoops" to me. No one else received it?

We had the same thought at the same time.

I'm willing to bet that the image tags seen in the PDF are for the grunge background used in the 4891 pic. I'd look for it, but there are over 8,000 matching images... I don't have that much time on my hands.

I've been away from this for some time, and can't find the mission email. What are we supposed to do with that number?

Was it addressed in any way or was it just a link to http://experiencethenode.com/leapyear/
?

I think you are right. The PDF file probably started off with the grunge background that was presumably DL'd from this site.
The artist then added the text and the cipher, but never removed the file information. I don't know if this was general sloppiness or if it was a minor clue of some sort.

I didn't receive the e-mail, but I've been following along here. I went to the leapyear section of the site, clicked on the page, entered my ID, and entered the string of numbers we got from combining the page and the overlay.

Did anyone take note of the url when the code was confirmed?

I wonder if we should take that literal? I see nothing on the wall of the building on the main IG Site.

I think that the writing was supposed to mean the passage from 1984.

I got the email and noticed it was from apacheSPLATleto.cosbit.net which is a different email address than the other emails were from. I think it must have been sent in error.

I may be stating the obvious here... but 4891 is 1984 backwards. Also the name of the overlay 0452284236.pdf was pointed out as the ISBN-10 for George Orwell's 1984. I am thinking there is probably a lead within the book.

Has anyone else had the email? The lack of communication from The Organization is a bit odd.

I got the mission email, but no confirmation that I solved it (not that there ever is). I understand that some people never received the mail at all. However, the presence of a Mission 4 forum makes me think that it wasn't a mistake that it got sent out, just the way it was sent was odd (I got two copies). Possible the first half of the mail list was c/p onto the second half? That would explain some people not getting it, and others getting it twice. Has everyone gotten it 0 or 2 times?
