The fellow in the photo is Jason Nyx. I suspect the subjects of these mails may hold clues, as they've been pretty varied.

I found there was a comic series featuring a character called 'Helios' and an organisation called 'The Shining Path'. I decided to look for similar references associated with the Umbrati.

Babylon 5 had a character called 'Galen', and a race of 'Shadows'.

Battlestar Galactica also had a 'Galen', plus it had episodes titled 'The Ties that Bind' (not an exact match), and 'The Road Less Traveled'.

I've tried working out passwords from these and plugging them in, but I haven't got anywhere.

Can anyone do something with the image? I don't have any photo editing software. I thought this might be something important on the gun handle.

The weapon is a dragunov sniper rifle if anyone is interested, and I agree that the symbol is probably not a normal feature of the gun.

I've been searching rifle/ gun sites (um, I am not a gun person it was a bit scary!) I'm glad you found it! I was also googling gun/rifle logos, emblems & symbols and so far haven't found anything close, so that makes sense.

I actually found this for the gun but it doesnt have the scope on it ..slightly different from ace and again the symbol doesnt seem to be a thing thats suppose to be on it:

The name is a Tigr-9 and its russian but I dont think the info is real relevant but putting it here in case.

I was going to post this earlier but got tied up with some things. I was playing around with the symbol with some of the people on the IRC chan and for some reason I thought I could see letters in the symbol. Probably nothing, but hey, it's worth a shot.

GCO or such, though some have said they see GOG. At first I had thought of the triskele, which would be significant of the upcoming summer solstice, however I can't seem to find any indication of spirals.
