[HOLO] [Email] RandomKnowledge

Just received an email from RK. It included an attachment, the Copenhagen Airport photo. Using Camouflage and the password "hafnia", I extracted some files.

I'm not sure whether this is relevant at all, but it appears that the "Belize Dive Network" web page is cut-and-pasted from this OOG website:

The note seems to suggest that Gough is dead, but the fact that a body was never found means he might even have faked is own death in order to bring down Holomove or something like that.

Just in case anyone was wondering about Scripps Pier, it's a real place here in San Diego, over by the Aquarium and below UCSD:

The note mentions someone in the company who is hip to what is going on. Nathan wasn't hired until well after Gough's death so maybe we should encourage him to hind find this other person.

For those who can't get at the note as a download, here is what it says:

Quote:
You have reached a point where, I hope, you have begun to question Holomove and its leadership.

I have set up this trail in the hopes that, in the event of my untimely passing, someone will pick up the mantle and learn THE TRUTH.

Be warned. If you are reading this, the odds are that I am not alive. And if I am dead, who's to say that they aren't looking for you?

There is someone inside the company, someone you can trust implicitly, who has been given instructions in the event of my death. This message should be accompanied by evidence which might be helpful in your investigation.

As Lincoln said, I never had a policy; I have just tried to do my very best each and every day.

If I made mistakes, if I was blind to the dangers, may all forgive me.

curious

I'm curious as to why RandomKnowledge felt he/she could only trust one of us. I know I have sent email, nothing important, but for example "hafnia" in the subject line. I would think that he/she could trust the rest of us as well. Not to mention that there are other forums that are following this game.

What was the subject of the email and was there anything in the body other than just the attachment?

Re: Never Mind

Does the picture have anything to do with, well, anything aside from hiding the files? Or was it just convenient?

The files are hidden in it. That is all.

From the La Jolla article I'm more inclined to believe that the diving event gave someone the opportunity to dispose of Dr. Gough without arousing any suspicion. If you read the explanation George Poulopatis gives it sounds specifically worded in a way that would explain away the circumstances - that it would be characteristic of Dr. Gough to swim off on his own instead of staying with the group.

*This is the part where I scrunch my feet up into my seat and start eating sweets*

Having said that, I estimate there to be a 70% chance that Mr. Poulopatis is responsible for the death of Dr. Gough. He may not have committed the act, since it would be wiser to have a person unfamiliar to Gough to do the dirty work of luring the doctor away from the main group, likely persuaded by promises of a unique sight; then assaulting the doctor which could be as simple as removing his air supply and keeping him from surfacing; then fastening his own weight belt to Dr. Gough's body he prevents it from resurfacing, which explains why a body wasn't found.

However, in order to confirm my suspicions we would have to find out who was on the dive excursion and link one of them to Mr. Poulapatis. Since Benjamin Gerlitz was operating the dive boat and lost his license over this incident, he would be the most knowledgeable and likely most forthcoming with information about the people on board on that day. Of course, we can't exclude the possibility that he is the one involved with Mr. Poulapatis and was compensated generously for the loss of his license - after all it was his failure to do a head count that led to a delayed investigation. It would look suspicious if he was tight-lipped about the incident and not so forthcoming, so in either case we would benefit the most from being able to communicate with Mr. Gerlitz.

Remind me not to go diving in Florida.

Although this email is from Nate, it was in response to an email I sent him this morning concerning the info RK gave us. Doesn't include anything new.

RK speaks! Finally! I was going a little crazy not knowing that we've done the right. As you know, I love a good puzzle, but it is good to see all this has not been for naught. That there's a light at the end of the hoops. Or something.

On that note of camoflage, the Camo'ed picture he sent us was 109 kb (without the camo'ed stuff). That picture of Dr. Gough with scuba stuff on is 372 kb. Yet, the scuba pic is smaller. They're both the same file format. Perhaps the scuba pic is camo'ed as well? With perhaps 200kb of stuff camo'ed in it?

P.S. Can't remember if we've gone over this before, so don't trout me if we have Very Happy

It's not stegged. I think (pretty sure) the difference is because the scuba image is 300 dpi while the camo'd image is 96 dpi.
