[MISSIONS] OMPHALABYRINTH: San Francisco
Mission completed by Team Esseff on June 14

Hi there Team Esseff!

It is time to drive/walk/skip/sashay our city's omphalabyrinth!

I received an email today from Eli Hunt for the 11-circuit labyrinth:

Eli Hunt wrote:
Dear Ms. Pita,

I am most impressed by your bold and ambitious design of an 11-circuit labyrinth for San Francisco.

As you may know, I have been advising city captains on the design of their labyrinth and confirming omph strength calculations.

I believe your calculation of 32.2 is correct, and your design is brilliant and beautiful.

Best of luck with this mission.

Sincerely yours,

Eli Hunt

I think he's sweet on me. Wink Or maybe he is just after my circuits. Shocked

/meaningless joke

As we discussed at the last human labyrinth training event, let's try for this Saturday, June 14th. It's Flag Day, so we can pretend it is our patriotic duty to accomplish this mission!

*Salutes, places hand on heart, stares at flag, recites the Pledge of Allegiance*

It's time for you peeps to weigh in on the details. It's probably a good idea to meet somewhere that has adequate seating to wait for others to arrive. The Peet's and Starbucks in the immediate vicinity of our starting point have very little seating. There is a Peet's on Van Ness at Golden Gate that has quite a bit of seating (and a restroom and bookstore to boot). It's about five blocks from Civic Center BART/MUNI.

We should try to get started around noon since this will very likely take at least three hours. I am thinking we could meet up and then drive over to the starting point and begin.

Due to the anticipated number of people that will be involved, we will probably need two cars. Ariock is volunteering one, so has anyone else one to volunteer?

Please comment and let me know you are attending (or not, as the case may be, which would be a very sad case, indeed), as well as any of your thoughts, questions, or ideas about this mission, time, meeting point, etc.

Checked--Saturday is golden for me. Any time I can get to BART, I can get over there... and that's pretty much any time.

I won't be able to come on Saturday. Sunday works for me, but it's fine if Saturday works better for everyone. Crying or Very sad

EDIT: Okay, I'm trying to make Saturday work. I'm trying!

I was thinking... would 11 be too early? That way we could do it and then eat us some lunch together and Momonga could still be back by like 3 or 4...

Awesome and awesome!

Ariock and I were discussing how to do this and we're thinking of using the cars on a relay basis, switching off between the walking sections. I will bring a couple of printouts of the labyrinth map and when we coordinate and hash out the details beforehand, we can mark them up with the places we will change cars.

I will bring three copies of the map. One for each driver (Ariock and Ranger D) and one for the navigator/trackstick carrier (me). If anyone else wants one for whatever reason, please let me know and I'll bring extra.

You have to come! You are an integral part of Team Esseff (the best team in all the worlds)!

I think that being back by 3 or 4 is pretty optimistic, even if we start at 11. We have to meet up and plan our strategy and then actually accomplish the mission. 42 miles on city streets with nearly a mile of that being walked can get time consuming, especially in those slow moving touristy areas that we will be going through. I know I said it will take at least three hours. I should have emphasized "at least."

BTW, where's Cineball? DUDE! Don't make me call you again!

Ah... then maybe 10 or 10h30? We could gather at 10h30 and go at 11... or... something.

I will be struggling to get there at 11 myself. YES I AM A NIGHT PERSON AND I SLEEP UNTIL TEN NORMALLY, SO SUE ME. Very Happy

Ok, enough personal revelations.

I am sure momonga will be able to work out her situation and that we will get done in time for her to get to her meeting.

I will be there at 10 sipping a latte and looking cool. I will have my car. I will have those six omphaloi to deposit around the City. I will be obsequious, purple, and clairvoyant.

Ok, I have to clarify...are we supposed to be making these omph rocks as part of our labyrinthing activities, or are you making them as an extra bonus, so to speak? I saw that you brought one to the James abduction, too, and I want to make sure that we in Toronto do everything we're supposed to, too Smile.

I like to criticize things I don't know about, but I'd never do that to a poor hapless chicken!

So, does everyone else want to meet at *gasp* 10:00 am? Suddenly, Dav's 10:30 is sounding much more civilized to me.

Love it Smile. I'll have more time for being a nerd when school ends Razz.

Gah, that's early! I will need at LEAST a Grande White Chocolate Mocha(tm) and maybe a scone. (large house blend anyone?) Everyone remember to use the bathroom before we leave. We will not be stopping so as to "Make Good Time" on "The Road."
