I use to live on Ponce de Leon Boulevard here in Miami.

And here I am complaining about that I'm the only person around here in Miami (I only know of two other UF-ers in the area). And I hope nothing major happens here on the 17th; middle of the week is bad for me!

Anyway, come on in Nate! I'll get you good seats at Joes Stone Crab!

Actually it looks like Rómulo Gallegos Freire was democratically elected into office in 1947, took office in Feburary 1948, and then was ousted in a coup d'état in November 1948. Still, that's a pretty brief presidency. Rolling Eyes

You're right. Read the dates wrong. They do seem to have coups on a regular basis, though.

Could he be hinting at the city of Caracas, specifically? (As something more specific.)

I was wondering that as well. Sounds kinda like "In the Year of our Lord 1513". "Land" and "tribe" might be references to Florida and the fact that it was inhabited by Native American tribes (specifically the Seminole) when Ponce de Leon landed there in 1513.

Emailed Nate again:

OK so there's been yet another update - a picture apparently of what appears to be Ponce de Leon and the Seminoles, and "1513 in the land of the tribe" written over it. I can only assume this means to head to Miami, around Biscayne Bay...

Perfect disguise for the area: White suit, pink shirt, and loafers with no socks Smile

More as we find it...

First thing that comes to mind is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Seminoles are all over the state.

There's also Micosukee Indians, which are in the Southern area of the state. They also have a six story casino in the middle of the Everglades.

Just wanted to add a big THANK YOU for all for the fantastic puzzle solving and for posting relevant solving background information. Much appreciated - I've been too busy to be around much, but it sure is fun catching up. Smile

I don't think that's what they had in mind (1513 is the year of Ponce de Leon), but Ponce de Leon Boulevard starts in Central Miami, passes through the heart of Coral Gables, then runs parallel to US-1 all the way up and past the University of Miami. It's one of the most major streets in Coral Gables.

Still thinking we're missing something with the names, here's some potentially useless data.

Taking the 1st, 9th, 4th, and 8th letters of the list of names (because of the 1948 clue-stick and that the list divides so nicely by 4)

original order

Well, if you use Google Street View, seems to be a construction site, but the building could be done by now since those were taken approx. year ago.
