I didn't get an email from TC either but the email I got from RK with the code had everyone who is playing this game, CCed. So I now have a list of all of your email addresses, whether I want them or not TC Carruthers is on the list. I am sure the emails were supposed to be sent BCC but weren't. This is pretty careless on the PMs part.
But hey, we are brave, wild and adventurous ARGers....we take risks

I imagine not: I never posted there.
I posted on the latest blog, but that was after the mail I believe.

Hey, I'm off that week, if the PM is willing to buy my plane ticket, and pay for room and board, I'm there. Ya, like that is gonna happen.....

As a data point:
I did not get an email.
I did submit a job app, respond to the survey, post on the blog, respond to RK, was on the CC, etc.
I didn't use my UF nick or email.

Now that we know we are dealing with Microsoft, I am totally unsurprised.

Sent Nate an email last night asking about TC:

Sorry to bother you again so soon, but I had a quick question. Did any one at Holomove go by the name of TC? It seems to be someone who's contacted you with an offer of help. They've contacted myself and a few others asking us to go to Miami, in case you need backup. Not sure about any of this, so you might want to be extra careful out there. It's kinda weird in creepy, scary, sorta way. I don't know, could TC be RK?

Nate's reply...

Hi enaxor,
Not at Holomove. But, TC has been emailing me for a while now and has offered to put me up. I am headed to his place now. I am being as careful, but I'm exhausted, physically and emotionally. I hope I can just hide out and rest. TC is RK? My brain hurts.

Well just as I thought that this guy was OOG, now we have this from Nate (etan?) which make it sound IG. Hrm.
For the record, I didn't get a TC email either.

Glad I kept my latest response IG (just in case).
Again, they should know where their audience lives - why did they set up a live event where most of us cannot get to (mid-week????? hello, most of us work IRL). Oh well.

That's why I don't think there will be something to go to except online. As much as I'd love to be taking a boat around the Caribbean right now searching for giant RK X marks the spot right now instead of sitting on my laptop in bed sick with a cold...

I've also been in contact with TC, and have explained my current personal and employment situation; I am waiting to see their response. All things considered, and taking Nate's response in to play, they seem legit.
This is all META:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Quite honestly, I'm surprised they chose Miami, considering the lack of people involved that are active in this. Heck, I think I'm the only person 'round here that's frequently active on this forum and in the Miami area. TDK did have a Miami event that got a big response, but TDK has a hell of a lot more exposure than this does, and at least there you knew what it was for.
Secondly, the middle of the week is somewhat of a pain. I'm not a college student that isn't working; I'm a contract programmer that loses money every day I'm not working. If this were on the weekend I'd have absolutely no problem with it, but disappearing from a Tuesday to a Thursday is a virtual impossibility for me without compensation, which I seriously doubt they will do (especially at my current rate).

More data points:
- I did receive the email from TC
- I have been in email convos with both Nate and Jay
- I did fill out the HR application
- I have made comments on Nate's blog (both of 'em)
I replied to TC saying I wish I could make it but was about as far away as I could be from MIA and still be on the continent He/she said they wish they could by plane tickets but he/she doesn't have that kind of money.
He/She *did* say something about "being on the short list" - so I'm curious as to how they (PMs) determined who would get the email...

my only explanation is that TC got our emails from the "Safeguard the code" email we got from Random Knowledge.
