a like Canzonett's design for melbourne, but i think its too big for me to walk.....

is there anyway to make it smaller Canzonett??

I'll try. Is there no chance of gathering a little team for it? Or to do at least some parts on a bike? Even though it's winter in Melbourne, I guess it's not that horribly cold?

If there is no other way than walking, how long do you estimate is the longest distance you would be able to cover on foot?

I wonder what reason Eli might have to react so emotional to this omphalos business?

I swear I saw Eli get all teary-eyed when he saw these Google Earth files open up.

I keep trying to get the New York Ringers together, but we haven't settled on anything, not even a labyrinth design.
I suggested a date and another person submitted three other labyrinth designs, but so far no one's responded.
I hope we can get our act together before the solstice...

I am maintaining a map of our Omphalos Knots.

http://tinyurl.com/646mht

I believe I have made it publicly editable.

we need to find out who's in charge of Beijing. I'll email Meihui right now.

Okay, here's her answer:

I haven't heard anything about Beijing's city-scale labyrinth either... I totally agree with you with how important it is to us but again, I don't really know anyone there either. Maybe we can start some forums on both mine and Ariadne's and ask around? Smile

I replied to her, saying that starting the threads is a nice idea. I told her i'd start the thread on Ariadne's forum, but i think it would be better someone who speaks english natively -- or better than me -- to start it.
Very Happy

Here comes my alternative suggestion for the Melbourne labyrinth. (I suggest we discuss this in the Melbourne thread.)

Who added Tokyo? I am so worried as there's no reply from Eli to my email about needs for a labyrinth in Tokyo. I've wanted a rationalization.

Ariock added Tokyo. My understanding is that for any omphalabyrinth design that exists, he added it to his map.

I do not understand why Tokyo is not on the list of 27 cities. It should be!

I hope you hear from Eli soon.

Thanks, Pita! I'll write to Eli again, and in parallel I will discuss with people in Tokyo.

I hope that they add Tokyo too.

Forgive me if I just posted it now, too much updates IRL.
Kai emailed me yesterday:

These pictures are so awesome! Ariadne is going to post some instructions about what to do with the data (basically, you should upload it to Seero (www.seero.com) and tag it with LostRing. It will have to be associated with a video, but even if you didn't take a video on that day, you can make a short video talking about the experience and that kind of thing. Then it will all show up on the Seero-LostRing Google Earth Layer! Like I said, it doesn't totally make sense, but hopefully the instructions Ariadne posts later will help.

Thank you too, Brian.

At last I got a reply from Eli!
Eli Hunt wrote:
Hello Unagi,

You should most certainly proceed! Your designs are quite impressive,
and some extremely ambitious! Team Tokyo will know doubt help us
tremendously as we try to build a complete network.

As I view the omph knot network unfolding on the omphaputer, I am
increasingly aware that we will need more knots in the region of
Tokyo. By all means proceed!
unagi wrote:

We Japanese believe a city-sized labyrinth will
be necessary also in Tokyo, although we know it's
not in the current omphcity list.

I made three temporary labyrinth designs.
(snip)

When you find Tokyo necessary, please let us know
as soon as possible, then I'll accelerate thing
about city-sized labyrinths.

So we'll probably build a labyrinth in Tokyo!

That's so great to hear, unagi! May we take a look at your designs? I am really curious to see them. And I absolutely agree with Eli what concerns the number of omphalos knots "in the region of Tokyo".

Thanks, Canzonett. I posted my designs on a new thread, since I thought it was not appropriate to start discussion about individual labyrinths.
