[SPEC] Limbo of the Lost - blatant enough to be an ARG? Have a look here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo_of_the_Lost
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=310683
this game is so blatantly a rip-off of about a million games, it can't be serious, can it?
perhaps a promo arg for an upcoming game?

I was hearing some speculation behind it, looks like you already have the GAF thread. One of the "Developers" is a former poker champion which seems a bit off.
Some were thinking it was for Fallout 3.
We'll see...

So since it's no longer for sale AND was ripped off from a number of other games does that mean that it's Abandonware IE technically not illegal to download? Cause...you can .

I don't think this could be an ARG... anything that looks remotely like a trailhead? I don't think I've heard of a wiki being a trailhead before, though I am new...

The game description sounds absurd though:
Quote:
Gameplay
Limbo of the Lost is a point-and-click adventure game. Players direct the controllable character around the game world by clicking with the computer mouse to interact with objects and characters in the game world.
The main character Captain Briggs has a phobia. He hates insects, and on certain occasions in the game, the player must help the character bypass this fear in order to complete a puzzle and progress further. Briggs will moan to the player from time to time regarding his feelings of the surroundings and what he has been asked to do. If the player does not move the mouse for a period of time, Briggs will let the player know about it.
Not saying it's an ARG. It's just bizzare.

There's more about this than the wiki, though. I think the OP might have been saying the whole situation itself might be a trailhead, not the wiki, just gave the wiki for further info.

fear of insects. entomophobia. could be a clue.

have you seen the site of the developer? one of their other games: the siege of khe sanh? i cant find a single xbox360 review for it. is this shit for real?

so thats why ive never heard of their games.
i tried looking for descriptions of the company elsewhere. i found this:
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10012/G2-Announces-Development-Plans-for-2006/
so theres a guy called jeremy christie. i tried logging into their site as jchristie and christiej, with the password entomophobia. no dice, but the site has a bit of a non-standard reaction when you get the login wrong - try it. or maybe its just me imagining things?

EDIT: "enemy engaged 2" seems to be a real game: it is on game.co.uk but it has been discontinued. maybe this is just a really, really bad games company after all.

Got right on that, I'll have it in about 4 hours.
Also, is this Majestic Studios/Tri-Logik Studios supposed first game? Because I can't find any reference to them before this. Something definitely does smell fishy.
Edit: reread the wiki page, so yeah it could possibly be real.
I keep going back and forth on this one. There does seem to be a magazine scan about the original game from 1995 here: http://amr.abime.net/review_35215
And it seems that Steve Bovis also wanted to remake Dungeon Master at one point. Anyone want to look at the screenshots and see if they recognize anything?

And btw, boo on frickin NeoGAF. You can't sign up to post unless you have an ISP, work, or college email address?! And why the heck isn't aol.com considered a proper address? Most people who use that pay for it! Edit: nvm, found a free email that works

thank you for the most entertaining 4 hours i've had in a long time. You guys seriously have to read through the controversy of this game...it's so rediculous that it's hard to believe it's real, but it is. definitely NOT an ArG though
Here's a LOL (Limbo of the Lost) wiki that compares screen shots from the game with the games and movies it stole from: http://lotl.wikia.com/wiki/Limbo_of_the_Lost_Wiki
I'm seriously considering buying this game on amazon just to see it for myself. http://www.amazon.com/Tri-Synergy-8-11002E-11-Limbo/dp/B0017XEGOK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1213902115&sr=8-1

Oh man! Don't waste money on a game that the developers stole from just about eveyone else. Steal it back.
http://isohunt.com/release/122634/limbo+of+the+lost (You'll need torrent software, but that's the future of downloading anyway. So you should have it already! I'd be happy to suggest BitComet if you don't... )

You know, I gotta say, this is the single most impressive act of plagiarism I've ever seen.
I mean think about it: it may have taken longer to port all those assets in to the game than it did to create them in the first place.
And, hell, if you're going to plagiarize, don't hide that fact, right?
Every studio on the planet's going to come down on them like an anvil. And they had to go and screw with Disney, the worst enemy you could have.

yeah, if i dont buy it, i'll definitely download. My only thing about that is that the I really think the publisher didn't know...they just got scammed by the game developers, and they'll probably lose a ton of money and credibility on this...I feel bad for them.
