Googling Etruscan and Egidio together i got that in Italy there a town names Etruscan Chocohotel which is situated at about 30km from Sant Egidio . I think this might be our starting point. Still googling to see about this part: From his cave of a different empire, you may travel and the part of the between the hills look for the fun and games part. Guess I will need to go to google earth for that last one.

Could also be Cortona

Cortona
city, Toscana (Tuscany) regione, central Italy, on the southern slope of San Egidio Hill just north of Lake Trasimeno. The Roman Corito, it was probably of Umbrian origin but was later an important Etruscan magisterial centre.

I'm just wondering about the original mail:

Just strikes me as a bit odd. Kloo perhaps?

It appears we simply don't have enough info to find a starting point. Hhhmmmm....

Well my first email to him was in that sense...we know a secret..and we have info leading us to that person so when I wrote to him I said
I knew his secret...and for me to stay quiet I wanted something out of it...And asked what he was ready to offer Shocked
well I can tell you that didnt go to well LOL

So not sure if it means anything really or it may just be me who didnt use correctly that info about Are You Greedy..It may just have been to note out that ARG..don't know...

Hooyah! Response time! I think you should see this... he forwarded a message to me...

First, my conversation from earlier...

Victim or Murderer? (that's the subject line of email i sent)

"Yes, I found the letter bizarre too! Not even an envelope, just the page.
I suppose I should really tell you a bit about myself; I was born on 11th February 1949 and retired two years ago from being a private investigator (so I guess a few grudges are held against me). I have one brother who is three years my senior and our parents died when we were ten and thirteen, so we were given to seperate foster homes. I joined the army for two years at the age of sixteen and after that it only took me a couple of years to discover the private investigator career. That all that there is to it really.
How are you all getting along with that letter?
Dirk Folds."

Also, he forwarded a message to me.. It's from Rabbit....

Fw: On the right line?

How are you getting along with my letter?

Run rabbit!

I think that's a big clue there... maybe we should concentrate on a certain line.. maybe. But which one I wonder?
I may not know of a starting point, but perhaps we have found a method to view the letter with.
Whoa... adrenaline rush... is this what it's like to find something out on an ARG? cool, lol.
I suppose I should ask him about his career... perhaps his parents later, though I'll have to ease into the subject... reactions to those questions vary from person to person, y'see.

Conversation, complete!
He's going to Scotland...

Here's the entire conversation, sans me wishing him good luck in Scotland and telling him I'll see him when he returns, then. Chronological order is from bottom being first to top being last.

My thoughts from being a private investigator are to just do things methodically and logically, one step at a time...but this letter is very cryptic so I am not having much luck at all! I am pretty sure I am not being watched, anyway I am leaving for Scotland tomorrow morning and once I am there on Wednesday I will be back in touch with you.
My job spanned years and years; I am going to take boxes of papers up to Scotland with me to see if anything strikes a chord with this.
Dirk Folds.

The letter? Oh i'm not too sure.. but that message you forwarded, I believe it was a very big clue. The subject line seems to imply we need to look at a certain line. that's my thoughts anyway. Yours? And thanks for the background info, had no idea you were a private investigator before! Definitely could give you some enemies... but I want to ask something. You sure you're not being watched? This man.... or it could even be a woman... well, they have to know you somehow, and they had to find out your address somehow to even drop that letter off. It's possible it may be someone you know or once knew. But that's just speculation.
I'd like to learn about some of your 'cases" while as a private investigator. were any of them particularly strange? I mean, more strange than what you yourself might consider normal.

How bizzarre! Kinda a "hit and run" type delivery method. So you had no warning, no knock on teh door? Guess he wanted to surprise you.
Perhaps it would be easier to understand your current situation if we, meaning my friends and I who received the same mysterious clipping in our emails, knew more about your background, like your family, beliefs... anything that might help. Even if it seems insignificant to you, like just some unfriendly fight you had with someone a long time ago, it might help. Also, have you any clues as to who runrabbitSPLATmail.com might be? Anyone ever use anything like that username in your past?
Please, I wish to help you out here, and since knowledge right now is our only weapon, we kinda need a lot of it. Plus it might help you out in the end.
Sorry if i overwhelmed you a little with this email. The hands just fly on their own sometimes, me being a writer and all. Haha.
i shall wait for your reply.

It was posted through my door on Saturday morning, I came downstairs at about 10am and there was just the piece of paper with this typed on it on the floor in the hallway. I have no ideas who it is from though.

I received a picture of a clipping recently. Though seemingly unimportant, on it was written your email, and both murder and two letters, er, were underlined twice. I believe someone is calling you a murderer.
My friends have already discussed this "letter' you're talking about. I'd like to know more about it, and if you are in any sort of trouble.

I'll be waiting for your swift reply, if you choose to respond to this.

Your suggestion was very helpful, it seems. I seem to have gained Dirk's trust now. thank you for ideas.

Uxbridge = 20
Chenies = 4
Brooke = 28

Mepham = 18
Pentham = 3
Maxley =13
Godstall = 23

I wish this were as simple as say, the numbers being miles, and this certain location is so far away from each of these points, but that's wishful thinking. Perhaps the "Fw: On the right line?" applies here? I dunno.

I got a copy of the article you sent. Are you trying to threaten Dirk? Or imply that he's a murderer? Or are you asking for help?

What are your intentions?

Here are my emails from him. Nothing really important, except that he is going to his brothers:

Quote:
Hello. You don't know me but I received a very troubling email this afternoon. The email implied that I should contact you. Have you any idea what is going on?

I firmly believe in being open and honest, so I am attaching the newspaper clipping I received as well. Perhaps you can help me to shed some light on this mystery?

Thank you,
Nos

Quote:
Hello Nos, thank you for being so frank. I saw the article in the paper a couple of days ago and thought nothing more of it. Where did you get it?
Dirk Folds.

Quote:
Dirk,

It was sent to me via email, with your address obviously plastered all over it. I was immediately concerned for your safety (paranoid bleeding heart that I am), as it seems like some creepy underhanded threat to me. Is there any reason why anyone would want to hurt you? You seem like an okay guy so far to me. Were you friends with any of the people mentioned in the clipping?

Be safe,
Nos

Quote:
I am going to my brother's house in Scotland tomorrow, so I will arrive on Wednesday and will be back in touch with you.
To my knowledge I am not connected to the murder in anyway.
In answer to your other question, I used to be a private investigator, so I guess I have a few grudges held against me.
Speak soon,
Dirk Folds.

Quote:
Dirk,

A private investigator eh? Must be nice to have such a perfect name for the job! Hee.

Please have a safe trip, and take care of yourself.

He also forwarded me the email from the Rabbit.

Yes, yes, St Giles alias Egidio was fed in a cave by a hart.

And some ancient French king built a city there named Saint-Gilles-du-Gard.

I figured this out yesterday.
