Re: "scanner" radio ad

okay, i downloaded audacity and after some fiddling with the speed i think this is what i'm hearing:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a woman crying "help me... please" followed by the sped up tones- i think the second tone is a 1, but i'm not certain. then there is an automated sounding woman's voice like on a phone menu saying something i can't quite get- it's two syllables- maybe "doctor" but it's hard to hear.

it would be a lot easier to understand if i could filter out the top voice and bring up the volume on the slowed down stuff.[/spoiler]

i just put my headphones up to my internal mic and recorded, so the quality definitely suffered. is there a better way to rip streaming audio? i can post what i've got.

The mp3 my mp3 didn't work? I doesn't do anything special with the audio, but it's free, simple, and you can export to mp3 or wav. http://www.mp3mymp3.com/mp3_my_mp3_recorder.html

On an unrelated note, I just now figured out what the Phi was all about on the back of the frog at the official Fringe site. It represents the Golden Ratio, which can be derived from the Fibonacci sequence. Still not sure why it's on the back of the a tree frog, though.

In any case, this note doesn't go anywhere. I mean, it's just kind of amazing in its own right if you didn't already know about it, but that's all.

Eh, not the best way lol. I can do it when i get home...but it's really easy in audacity, on the top right (depending on your screen layout, it's right next to the microphone volume level) change the drop down menu from "Microphone" to "What you hear" (It might say something different depending on your soundcard) and then hit record and it will record everything you hear.

Edit: Here's a direct link to Audacity: http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=6235&filename=audacity-win-1.2.6.exe

Ah, so the numbers themselves, the phi on the frog, and the golden spiral on the apple picture all fit with fibonacci somehow. So I'd bet all of the number/equations/pictures relate to the sequence somehow. I know I've already heard it over and over that most natural sequences follow the golden ratio.

Quote:
Adolf Zeising found the golden ratio expressed in the arrangement of branches along the stems of plants and of veins in leaves. He extended his research to the skeletons of animals and the branchings of their veins and nerves, to the proportions of chemical compounds and the geometry of crystals, even to the use of proportion in artistic endeavors. In these phenomena he saw the golden ratio operating as a universal law.

Quote:
Fibonacci sequences appear in biological settings, in two consecutive Fibonacci numbers, such as branching in trees, arrangement of leaves on a stem, the fruitlets of a pineapple, the flowering of artichoke, an uncurling fern and the arrangement of a pine cone. In addition, numerous poorly substantiated claims of Fibonacci numbers or golden sections in nature are found in popular sources, e.g. relating to the breeding of rabbits, the spirals of shells, and the curve of waves.

Apparently the inside bit of the daisy (florets) also conforms to the ratio.

Fibonacci numbers

Seems that Fibonacci is the pattern.

Sorry, looks like that site has at least been around since June of 2006. It is really cool though and I don't know why it hasn't already been discussed here somewhere. You should open a new thread for it (maybe in timewasters? I doubt it's an arg if it's been around that long).

Edit: Nevermind, it's someone's personal site. There's all kinds of weird stuff on it, google the address.

www.imaginetheimpossibilities.com updated with a new item on the menu -- 55, a butterfly with human/alien phalanges in its wings and the radio ads when clicked. There is a new ad in there about a woman that grew 8 1/2 inches overnight.

Edit: Oh man, anyone here going to Comic-Con? They might release something there.
Quote:
Just a quick reminder for those of you who may have missed it - FOX will be bringing JJ. Abrams Fringe to Comic Con on July 26. The panel will be at 4.45PM-5.45PM, and it is allready sold out. There's no news of who will be on the Fringe panel just yet, but expect somekind of JJ. Abrams/Bad Robot presense as well as the likes of Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv.

Also, there's a lot of cool fringe videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/FringeTelevision Including animations of the site pictures.
