so what does the s(b) = BA equation refer to?
All that math from school, gone, gone! I'm getting old *sobs*

I'm not that far out of my schooling but I never saw that equation before. There are some references to it in some physics articles, but you can only read them if you pay. Definitely related to Fibonacci though, do Ctrl-F and search for "fibonacci" here: http://www.math.harvard.edu/~knill/thesis/index.html (I wouldn't consider myself unintelligent, but I can't understand any of what that article's about. Embarassed)

I don't think I've seen this posted before, so I don't know if it's new or not.

In the 'load' effect for the first picture on the impossibilities site, there appears to be a word at the end of it - de de Ramskin? It might be reversed, I'm too new at this to be able to tell

On the fourth (the frog), there appears to be breathing and/or a heartbeat in the background. It appears to be composed of long and short sequences - possibly morse code?

Edit: Interesting. I may be hallucinating, but the background noise seems *much* clearer in Firefox than it does in IE

Probably not *useful* information, but google brings up this:

http://www.imaginetheimpossibilities.com/fringe_teaser_v2.swf

which links to the Fox site:

http://www.fox.com/programming/shows/new/fringe.htm

and this explains my previous post. I obviously need to do more research before posting. Sorry for the n00bness

It worked you get a page by network solutions that says "Coming Soon! This site is under construction", also I ran a Whois and it can back as being owned by Network solutions and it also said it was made on 22-Apr-2008, same to .net on the site

Lol! Really, I know some forums go rabid on people, but we're nice here Wink

We did find the "expand your consciousness" bit, but not the site. However, I'm sorry to say that I doubt it's in-game, as the whois entries would likely match and it was made in 2004.

 findthepattern.com
related?

I have been watching this site for a bit. Until today (I think) it was just a generic godaddy holding page. Today it looks to be an underwhelming clothing pattern site. I've sent an email stating "I am looking for more information about The Pattern", have not received a reply as yet. I'll let you know if/when I do. I also did a whois on it (though I'm not very savvy on the whole website registry research). This is what whois came back with:

I believe that the Domains by Proxy has been used by a few other arg/e's in the past to help retain anonymity. Like I said, not too savvy on the registration research... But maybe some one can make something of it. Or confirm that it is indeed a clothing pattern site with an (un)fortunate name.

Apologies if this has been noted before and I missed it, but the "Tell them Charlie sent you" radio ad seems to be saying "FRANKLIN Auto", not "Abrams Auto". At least the version on the Fringe website (butterfly page), anyway.

Edit: Since I've heard bits of the radio ads differently than what's been quoted in places—like the TV Week article, which inserts the name "Abrams" in two places where I've heard something different—I thought I'd post transcripts of what I'm hearing. (Maybe the actual radio versions say "Abrams", but the ones on the site say something else? Anyway, I've bolded both instances of these discrepancies.)

Quote:
Unidentified male: Case #22. Tell me what happened, Mrs. Reed.
Mrs. Reed: I identified my husband at the morgue after the wreck, so I went home to break the news to my son. Then I got this call from the coroner. He said, "I don't know how to tell you this, but your husband wants a ride home. He's alive!"
Voice: Find the pattern.

Quote:
Female dispatcher: Calling all units. We have a 10-22 at the VFW Hall at Spring and 4th. 200 wedding guests are disoriented. All claim they can't remember the last two hours. May be linked to The Pattern. Over.
Voice: Find the pattern.

Quote:
Male news announcer: A Dallas area physician reports that a 51-year-old female patient grew over 8 1/2 inches overnight. Various media outlets have dubbed events like this "The Pattern". All government sources are--
Voice: Find the pattern.

Quote:
Unidentified male: National Sea Rescue, this is the Solara* cruise ship Estrella, come in.
National Sea Rescue: Roger, we read you 5 by 5, go ahead, Estrella.
Unidentified male: Mayday, the navigation system's down.
National Sea Rescue: We copy. What was your last position?
Unidentified male: We can't find our way out. There's a sudden fog bank of the coast of Patagonia. I'm gonna try to turn her around-- Mayday, MAYDAY!
(rewinding/distorted/spliced audio)
Can't find-- sudden fog bank-- the-- Pat-- turn--
Find-- the-- Pat-- turn--
Find-- the-- Pat-- turn--
Voice: Find the pattern.

Quote:
Charlie: It's our big summer sale, and all 2008 models are tagged for extra savings--
(backwards audio)
Voice: Find the pattern.
Charlie: --Only at Franklin Auto. Tell 'em Charlie sent ya.

*Also, I'm not sure if I'm hearing this word (Solara) right.

Edit again: Fixed the "coroner's office" dialogue based on Fringe TV's transcript (I had "I couldn't find my husband..." which, upon relistening, is clearly wrong). They also seem to be hearing "Estrella" (with a "y" sound for the "ll") where I was hearing "Astraea" for the cruise ship's name (probably because I remember quite a bit of Greek mythology, and probably also because I don't know how to pronounce most of the names). I can't tell for sure which it is, but I think they're right, so I replaced it.

Minor edit: Typos.

One more thing of interest regarding the fibonacci theme: flowers, apples, butterflies, etc. are all commonly cited natural expressions of the pattern in one form or another. The petals on many flowers add up to fibonacci numbers. The number of seeds in an apple... the fact that those seeds are aligned in a pentagram, the sections of which follow fibonnaci's sequence. The shape of many butterflies' wings, the patterns on those wings... all fibonacci.

The equations all relate too, though I'll spare you talk of recurrence relations and rabbit populations Smile

If this theme is going to be woven through the entire game, it may be worth noting that the sequence can be followed rather simply- by adding two consecutive numbers in it to reach the next.

So, the pattern is: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13... and: 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, and so on.

In conclusion: Fringe+ARG=Awesome!

There is a new Seahorse "glyph" on the ImagineTheImpossibilites.com website. On the body of the seahorse is the Fibonacci Spiral, and next to it are some chemical compounds (not sure what they are).

When you click the spiral, a bunch of braille is displayed. It translates to:

Yeah, but how does a hand with six fingers fit into the Fibonacci sequence, other than the fact that this particular image of a six fingered hand links to a YouTube video uploaded by a man who has a real thing for the Fibonacci sequence?
