So after a couple of months not playing, I was at Hide and Seek festival in London... and played the lost sport... I had a great time and decided to start playing again... seems like a lot's happened so this is as good a place as any for me to dive back in... So count on my eagle eyes watching as well!

Well, we've just watched the 'cast together in IRC, and the results are:
- Edwin Moses was our mystery blogger, and he's looking forward to helping 'negotiate the final game'
- McDonald's is donating $100k in our name to earthquake disaster relief, to their Ronald McDonald houses

Do these mean the donation?

In the question period around the 29:39 point of the video, Mary Dillon is asked exactly what role Edwin Moses will be playing in the game. She basically says she doesn't want to say too much, but that he will be adding a little bit of competitive spark *and a bit of mystery* to the game...and that it would all be solved on the game in Beijing.
I wonder whose side Edwin is really on.

Well, we can't say that E.'s identity came as a huge surprise for us, can we?
The donation was a great idea.

I know the entire webcast is available (for 90 days anyway), but I videotaped the suspicious Q&A section. (The clickety clacking is me typing in the #lostring chat room in IRC.)
Behold: Midwestern accents and McDonald's advertising.

If you click on the part of the site that says "McDonald's Olympics Programs", you'll see there is a Lost Ring factsheet, intended for the media. In that factsheet, it says,
Quote:
In celebration of The Lost Ring, McDonald's will make a special donation to one
of two causes – Ronald McDonald House Charities China Earthquake Relief or
Conservation International. Players will determine the recipient when online
voting begins July 7.
I guess they decided to forego the voting. I don't think any of us are complaining about helping out the earthquake victims, though.
