[City Labyrinth] London Ok, since our capital city is on the list, and all the other Brits have been quite silent, I've done a labyrinth: it's a 3 circuit one for walking around, about 4 miles length)

One question - I heard these have to be run on or before 21st June? (I'm going to be in town that day)

A good start, chippy! But I guess that for a small labyrinth, the distance between the different circuits should be as even as possible. In your current sketch, the outer loop is sometimes far away from the inner ones, sometimes so close that it's difficult to make out the difference between them.
How about this?
Note: I'm still working on the outer circuits, please pay only attention to the three innermost ones at the moment!

I see what you mean, thanks! I shall try some more.
I also want to do a lab centred around Clapham Junction station, like the coordinates we got on the postcard

this is not about the city sized labyrinth, but I can't find the right place to post.
I just had a short chat with Alex.
She said:
you know i am going to my first training event soon
in london
I asked:
are you going to run? or do you still want to stay out of labyrinths
She said
i think i am better as dikaiosune ordering and not running
Is her event posted at http://upcoming.yahoo.com/group/4360 ?

Finished my London labyrinth design. Can't do any better than this, since I don't know the place. London players, please feel free to use that sketch.

got reply re: first design:
Quote:
As a fellow country man, I appreciate the difficulties you face in
executing this labyrinth in London!
Our ally in Bangkok has solved this problem ingeniously: he will
attempt to complete the trackstick labyrinth on a pedal boat in on a
large lake. Perhaps not so effective in London, but at least we know
we can think of strange and stranger ways to tie the omph knot...
I do notice in your current design that the path crosses itself in the
center; this is not possible in labyrinths, so it would need to be
redrawn. I imagine as you think more about this mission, other
possible designs will come to you -- so be sure the path never
crosses!
will get drawing again.

Is there any chance people are allowed to run around on the grass in any of those large, green looking parks?

Well, from Ariadne's blogpost Everybody, let's design the city labyrinths! :
(note: she's quoting an email from Kai)
Quote:
Tracksticks only work well when they have a direct line of sight to the sky! A friend of mine was playing with one in Bangkok , and she had to go out in a paddle boat on a pond, away from all of the skyscrapers, to get it to register with the satellites!
So maybe some of these other omph-cities are going to be taken care of by these mysterious "allies"?

completed London city labyrinth was joyfully completed yesterday,
myself, lhall, jem and jey, all with tattooed arms walked around the very colourful soho for about 4 hours - it was exhausting. We took a taxi for a bit towards the end, along Regent Street.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=116306730318888715626.0004501a23732b9c01337&z=15
The trackstick struggled, but performed better than the SIRF II GPS unit I brought along.
We took lots of pictures, and will add them here, and encountered many strange and serendipitous things, including us painting a labyrinth in an art gallery, moving hedges, sexy ladys, wall noses, lucky pennies, and unusual pets. Great day out.
I very much recommend you to walk around your city doing these labyrinths - it becomes a strange magical, almost psychogeographical activity.
So the final exit, at the end of Great Windmill Street, the end of the line of the map, was, wait for it, A McDonalds!!
I think the strength is around 2.5?

Great to hear you had so much fun! Interesting that you tried another GPS device too. I wonder if we could succeed with some of our more far flung Omph Knot locations or locations where omph team captains are having trouble with customs or postal services by using alternate recording methods (if the Tracksticks can't reach them in a timely manner.)
