All the sites, ftps, etc are currently down. Some players got into the main site (metacortes's root dir) and, either they hosed everything, or the PMs took it all down.

How did you find this out?

I was in chat when it happened. Someone discovered that we could ftp into ftp.metacortex.com with the same user and pass as theaquapolis. This took you into an empty directory home/cassius. The people who
had ftp'ed in then proceeded to go up a few directories, accessing the root directory of the server (with stats and log files, and a bunch of other stuff). I have heard conflicting reports of how far people got once in the directory - some have said nobody got into any of the files, but someone else said they downloaded at least some of them.

In any case, all game sites and ftps all promptly went down, presumably for PM damage control.

I don't believe that I have shared anything here that shouldn't be. If any mods disagree, please take into account that I am trying to abide by your apparent desires, and delete only any offending information, rather than the entire post.

Yeah, I'm the one who figured it out. The only reason why I got into it was because I thought I was supposed to. I mean, the whole login was way to easy to figure out. If this down time is damage control, it's the PM's fault, not mine or the gamers

Everything looks good. Nice synopsis of today's events.

Hopefully, we can go back to talking about the game soon enough.

Oh, we're not BALEETING posts by random. Some people are genuinely out to make things more difficult for us mods, and I'm BALEETING those kinds of posts. Carry on.

I could find the server, although I had to use port 80, otherwise I couldnīt locate their server;

STATUS:> Waiting to try again...
STATUS:> Connect: Wednesday 06:58:56 10-08-2003
STATUS:> Connecting to ftp.theaquapolis.com
STATUS:> Connecting to ftp.theaquapolis.com (ip = 66.135.35.41)
STATUS:> Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message...
ERROR:> Timeout

I guess it is OK, since anybody else succeded in going there after the crash or something...
