Random thanks

So I just realized that it's been just over four years since I came to Unfiction, and I felt randomly led to offer an enormous thanks and recognition to Spacebass, also the admin team, the moderatorial staff, and the entire member community for making this the best forum I've ever frequented (ok, lived in).

Four years ago, I came here shortly after Ilovebees began. At the time I was a frequent forum member at TeamXbox.com, and they posted a news article about the 'ilovebees.com' flash at the end of the Halo 2 commercial. After a bit of googling, I came across unfiction, and the rest is history.

I'm floored by this community - the respect, the maturity, the intelligence, the social aspect - and even though it's not without its hiccups at times, the focus on community and self-management really helps keep it all together, and always pull out stronger for it. While it seems kind of cliche and perhaps extreme, I can say I've definitely grown, learned, and changed over the years of being here and interacting with this community.

How Space is able to keep this thing going (with a full time job afaik), out of his own pocket and time, is beyond me Smile

Thanks for an amazing resource, for an awesome community of people with personalities, cultures, ages, and beliefs across the spectrum, for a place, as they say in spirit, where everybody knows your name Smile

It's been four wonderful years.

That's all. Just a random thing I felt led to say.

Brownie and Stroopwafel for you, Spacebass and Co.!

Hear hear! Thanks loads to SpaceBass and crew, but even further- thanks to the players who give people like 42, and the grassroots PMs a reason to keep this genre alive. It's no coincidence that viral marketing appears to be the future. Thanks again to all!

Why, wait... what? [ {i just realized that was a reference to my saying in the chatroom "wait... Random Thanks Who?"}

Actually, I thought I posted in this thread earlier. I wonder why it didn't post?

I CANNOT believe I have been here 4 years. this is crazy. It doesn't feel that long.

I owe Penny Arcade for getting me here during ILB, but I owe Dave and his PM team {addle, sin, etc} for keeping me here {i came i saw i said "ew, i hate halo... Hey, what's THIS game about?}.

I owe space and crew for keeping this place pretty much the #1 source for ARG community... a HUGE hip hip hurrah in everyone's direction!!!!!

PS: Still waiting for "Your Money or Your Wife"

I still have the t-shirts. Cool

Amazing how this place has grown over the years. Just like the incredible expansion of ARGFest.

How a game/artform & very unconnected 'marketing' tool blossomed into something that mass media has jumped all over......and unFiction was there at the beginning. It's so cool to know that we were part of the birth.

My earliest memory was PushNV (I am so bummed I didn't know about The Beast or Lockjaw) but CTW sealed it for me. But if it wasn't for the people (all of you guys) it wouldn't be worth it.

Here's to the next *5*, *10* and *20* years!

Totally parroting all the props, above! You're all great.
And a special thanks to those folks like thebruce who provide assistance to everyone in the form of wikis and other tools that keep more people active in the games we play.

Me Too! I know that compared to most of you I'm a total noob, and sometimes I do noobish things, esp. when I was even more of a noob, but the great thing about this community is that everyone is helpful and respectful. I can't remember how many times people have helped me to understand how things work (even though that's always changing.) It inspires you to give back. Or give forward, more properly. As more people show up on the forums I find that I am now one of those who know how to guide those early steps. But if the Mods, Admins, and esp. the more experienced players hadn't been willing to help me I wouldn't be able to do that. I remember when Toasty pointed me to the rumkin.com page, when Natas showed me some wiki stuff, when any number of people explained how they got a solve or what a plot point meant or just made me laugh.

We aren't perfect, but we do pretty good. Thanks. You rock, all y'all. Oh, and strangely enough ilovebees got me here too. I read a blurb about args on Boing Boing and wiki'd it which gave me a paper on ilovebees, which sounded really interesting, and that led me here, eventually. Looked around, jumped into Project Ophiucus in its Find my Friends stage, migrated to LGL and have been here since. So another thanks to all the grassroots PMs who, for my money, really make the most interesting games.
