I did the equations, and I came out with the number 22.

using the numbers within the colored borders

red = 405
blue = 246
green = 129
yellow = 39
black =6

reduces to
{[(405-246) - (246-129)] - [(246-129) - (129-45)]} -
{[(246-129) - (129-45)] - [(129-45) - (45-6)]}

{[159-117] - [117-84]} - {[117-84] - [84-39]}

{42-33} - {33-45} = 21 not 22

ultimately giving...13636813239

using only the immediate layer for the color

red = 159
blue = 117
green = 84
yellow = 39
black = 6

{[(159-117) - (117-84)] - [(117-84) - (84-39)]} -
{[(117-84) - (84-39)] - [(84-39) - (39-6)]}

{[42-33] - [33-45]} - {[33-45] - [45-33]}

{ 9-(-12) } - { (-12)-12 } = 45...lex is right

Yeah, that's where I made my mistake. I think the 13636813239 is correct, since all of the (Red - Blue) etc. statements equate to what's just on the immediate layer.

Still no idea what to do with it, though.

Hey, at least I got the right milieu. Been a while since I've read them. I thought it might have been Molly aka Steppin' Razor (among others) in 3Jane's habitat. Oh well. And I don't know what to do with the numbers or the cipher either. Did anyone try putting whatever came up with .html into the addy bar, even if it is nonsense? I mean, it isn't like 636f6d696e67736f6f6e is exactly conventional... Probably won't work.

Does "On receiving an interrupt, decrement the counter to zero." do anything for us? (Supposedly the source of the title.) RL calls. Back to work for me. Luck!

More programmer lingo. I can't figure a tangible use for it right now.

The problems are as follows:
ROT: Nothing comes up .html or .jpeg
Sub: we've only got 4 known letters, everything else is still unknown, and if it's gibberish...
Vig: You need at least a 6 character key to get those last 4 letters how you want them. We don't know the first 2 characters of the key.

I attempted to use the number as a cipher key using all the applicable ciphers on this page http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/

But I'm not very cipher savvy, so I might have missed it.

Must be 'cause it's past 3AM, but I can't see how you all are coming about these reference numbers. Someone care to enlighten me?

Add the numbers within that border. So for example, for green it's everything within that green border, in this case including the stuff within yellow and black borders.

I initially did it excluding everything within the next border, but this way makes more sense, looking at the equation.

I tried the '13636813239' as a phone number (SW Bell Mobile) and didn't get squat. Says I need to dial '1' but I already did.

It's a Gronsfeld Cipher...

Cipher key = 348758156250 (Lex's solve)
Used with the updated /ws-boj-moi-uh-yipi.part
gives us:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
/to-the-end-of-time.html I.e.
http://636f6d696e67736f6f6e.weebly.com/to-the-end-of-time.html

The /as-umh-lud-wn-uonl.luro needs a different solve since 13636813239 gives gibberish. Probably leads to the same place, but... Or possibly the Gibson quote was to give us something for the alphabet key (I tried Marly, Herr Virek, Count Zero and a couple others with both numbers...= no joy.)

So it was a Vigenére after all. Sort of.
