If you're going to have it on the West Coast, how about San Francisco? Sounds good to me. Razz

So we're in chat most of the day and it wasn't that busy.

We were in San Francisco last year Sad

Live events are very entertaining.

Video taping the panels and many of us posting pictures to try and include all of you stuck at home as much as possible.

The admins may not be physically in their own homes, but they do have laptops and there is ethernet in the hotel rooms.
Cool

As a matter of fact, it's more than heading a campaign, Portland has been announced as the definitive location for ARGFest '09! (sorry there Nighthawk! (but, really, with 6 Europeans at this year's ARGFest, the location shouldn't matter _that_ much to the Americans, right? Wink))

For all those that couldn't make it this year: you've really missed an awesome weekend, an impressive lineup of speakers, very inspiring panels and presentation and a lot of fun. I really do hope you can make it next year!

Honestly, what is there to do in Portland besides salmon fishing?

Ah, yee of little faith. This is ARGFest. There will always be stuff to do. And even in Portland, there will be a plethora of cocktails, trails, activities, sightseeing, dining, drinkering, and presentations/speakers. I'm very much looking forward to next year.

Now we need a catchy saying and T-shirts. Wink

Gosh. you can help us settle the territory. Maybe pitch in and help build a log cabin or two. Wink

I know from VectorB that there are cool bars that let bands play, in Portland.

There is also Voodoo Donut.

I am not sure what else you need, besides a nice beer, some tunes, and a maple bacon bar, but perhaps you are more high maintenance than me, Nighthawk! (lol, winky emoticon, etc.)

Sometimes flights are long. Plenty of us just came from the Pacific timezone to Boston for the weekend, and survived. I got to see Sassyp-- I mean, Giskard again, and I got to meet PatRol for the first time, and they both came from much further away. Also Agent Lex! And Oraclle!

Actually, Portland is sorta good news to me. My company has an office there, so now I just have to talk them into sending me there on a junket at the right time.

...and how about something like this for fun.

ETA* The Travel Portland website, labfly linked above, gives a pretty good overview of the things Portland has to offer. Nighthawk, I hope you come check it out. Very Happy

Portland has all of the amenities, venues, and culture you'd find in any big city, but due to urban growth boundaries, is pretty small. You're basically looking at 20-ish blocks west of the river (up to trendy-first and trendy-third, *ahem, sorry: 21st and 23rd) and 40 or 50 blocks east of the river (to the upper Hawthorne district.) The public transportation is award-winning, and walking is pretty easy. Voodoo Donut now has two locations, so you can get your maple bacon bars any time of day or night on either side of the river. Portland is one of the few cities with full-nude strip clubs that also serve alcohol--I'm told that this is a rarity in the rest of the country. Don't forget Powells--the largest independent book store: a square block in size and 4 or 5 floors in height, with the used books shelved right next to the new ones. And if you're up for drinkering--and really, what ARGfester isn't--there are tons of great local microbrews served everywhere, and any pub that serves alcohol is required by law to also serve food, so there are always late-night munchies available. Oh, and did I mention the ubiquitous WiFi?

So if there's a push for this to happen in Portland next year, I have to ask where I sign up to volunteer?
