For all of the Florida whiners, Giskard had a good idea. Since we aren't going to have an ARGFest Europe anytime soon, he suggested (or maybe it was Spacebass) having an ARGParty for all the Europeans. So, all you people that wanted Florida next year (even though that would violate the alternating coasts rule) should all get together for your own ARGParty! I'm sure you could actually get quite a few people from surrounding areas to come. It would be fun. Think about it.

Honestly, what is there to do in Portland besides salmon fishing?

Gosh. you can help us settle the territory. Maybe pitch in and help build a log cabin or two. Wink

LOL!! Enaxor, you are teh awesome. I can't wait to visit Portland. Smile

(Seriously, what is with all the complaining? Start an ARGFest Fund jar in your kitchen, cut out pizza night every week, and contribute that money to your ARGFest fund. Then, buy a plane ticket and join us for ARGFest '09. If folks from Europe can make it to ARGFest, you can, too! It just takes a little planning and a little financial strategy.)

I don't see why there are any complaints what-so-ever. Those complaining about an ARGfest not in their hometown should be glad it's not in Vegas every year or California and that they do make it to the East coast as well.

Personally I don't normally have much spare change - but I'm able to save up for stuff I really want to do. I, also, really enjoy visiting new places. I would tire of going to Vegas or Boston or anywhere constantly. I'd like to see a New Orleans ARGfest because I love the concept of a voodoo-esque festquest, but really I've seen a bit of New Orleans and never seen Portland.. so I'm really looking forward to going to the new city I've never visited (besides they've got voodoo donut YES!).

Beyond that - really it is about the people you meet there. Having the opportunity to meet not only Jan Libby, Brian Clark, Dave Szulborski and all of the people that are so influential in the design aspect of the game - meeting people like Pixie and Dionysus, Giskard and AgentLex. These were awesome people I haven't really had much of a run in with before (except lex in pmguide) and I found myself admiring each of them for who they were. Everyone there (except bananahammockman) was awesome and I really really hate I couldn't get to know some people a little more than I did. Fairyqueen for example was always right there and I didn't even get the opportunity to say Hi (or to bump fists).

I'd just have to say - if you can't make it across the country to attend an ARGfest ..I'm sorry you won't have the same experiences, but we've got a year before the next one so excuses should be slim unless you're still living with your parents and they're not going to let you travel that far.

I'm sure this is widely known already, but can I just say how awesome Dave Szulborski is? His keynote was wonderful and very inspirational. Afterwards I stopped him to ask if I could buy a copy of his book off of him and he just handed me the one copy he brought with him! For free! Talk about a great human being. I look forward to the opportunity to play whatever he works on next.

Oh, that was you! Hi! Very Happy I don't think we got to meet at all this weekend. I was the one standing near Dave (if you happen to remember). Smile

Varin I remember you from your panel! I was also the one who asked the question about implosions but you were all too dedicated to have let anything implode! Great job by the way, very interesting panel and helpful to a new PM.

Y'all gotta learn when not to take me seriously.

Anyway... it's a year away and I figured I'd get my gripes out early. But just wait until DLI becomes a full corporate sponsor and we *DO* have the power to dictate where it will be. Then we shall rule the world! MUHAHAHAHA!!! *cough!*

Sorry, got a little ahead of myself there. Carry on.

At that point, I was so completely frozen with fear I didn't see any of your faces! Laughing That was a great question though!
