[PUZZLE] Message from the Lost Rings

I thought that it would be useful to have a thread devoted to piecing together the message from the 5 rings.

Ring #1 (Wellington/Blue)

Message in Esperanto:
Code:
LA RINGOJ NOMBRAS KVIN, KAJ UNU MONDO KUNIĜAS PER LUDO ESTAS LA MESAĜO.
POR LA ELEKTITAJ ATLETOJ, ESTAS HONERO VOJAĜI. LA MONDO ATENDAS LA ALVENON ĈE LA OLIMPIKEJO.
ANTHŬ VI REVENU AL VIA HEJMO VI GIJNOS AMIKOJN ĈE ĈIU KONTINENTO.

[needed: clear pictures to show the spacing]

Translation:
DavFlamerock wrote:
The rings number 5, and one world comes together by means of a game that is the message.
For the elected athletes, is honor and traveling. The world waits for the arrival at the Olympic place.
Before you return to your home you will gain friends in your continent.

Ring #2 (Tokyo/Yellow)

Message in Esperanto (spacing very approximate):
Code:
ĈASANTE LA BONEGECON, MULTE DA ATLETOJ PLENUMADI, DEK OBLIGANTE LA SPIRITOJN. LA KOROJ SORAS.
LA OLIMPIISTAJ MUSKOLOJ DEVAS LINIIĜI PRESKAŬ PERFEKTE, KIA LERTO! KIA FORTECO! ESTAS MIRINDA!
ILI RAPIDIĜIS, ALTIĜIS, FORTIĜIS.           DUM LA FERMANTAJ CERIMONIOJ ĈIUJ ATLETOJ PARTOPRENAS LA FIERON DE ĈAMPIONOJ.

The Olympic athlete's muscles must align almost perfectly. What skill! What strength! It's wonderful!
During the closing ceremonies all athletes share the pride of champions. They became fast, rose, became strong.

Ring #3 (Manchester/Black)

Message in Esperanto (spacing very approximate):
Code:
LA ATENTOJ DE LA SPEKTANTOJ IĜAS KIEL UNU PER DESEGNAJO, LA FLEJGRAVA LUDO KONATA DE LA MONDO SINPREZENTAS.
KALKULU LA CELON. 29 LANDOJ, 154 EVENTOJ KAJ 2626 ATLETOJ POR KREI TRE IMPONAN OLIMPIKON.
LA FLAMO FLAGRU! TROVU LA FLEJ PROKSIMAN SAMLANDANO KAJ SESTU.                             LA OLIMPIKA TORCO ESTAS GVIDLUMO DE SOLIDAREGO.

Translation:

The RingBearers should doublecheck the Esperanto transcription and spacing.

Okay, this is what I think the sesa sections says.
Ring 1
kvin, kaj una
vojagxi. La mondo
revenu al via hejmo

5 and one
voyage. The world
return to your home

Ring 2
ATLETOJ PLENUMADI, DEK
DEVAS LINIIOXI PRESKAU PERFEKTE,
DUM LA FERMANTAJ CERIMONIOJ

athletes fulfill, ten
must align almost perfect,
During the closing ceremonies

Ring 3
unu per desegnajxo;la plejgrava ludo
kalkulu la celon.
flagru! provu la plej proksiman

one by design mostimportant game
calculate the goal
flares! Find the most closest

We might need the people who have the rings to double check.
We never got better closeups of Ring 1, and I can't see the closeups of Ring 2 anymore.

OK, I'll ask Marina.

Should we make sure spacing? Or borders of the sections?

I think Marina checked Esperanto transcription well.

EDIT: I think what follows PEFEKTE looks like a period, not a comma. I'm asking Marina.

I would double-check both.

I've clipped out the relevant "sesa" sections from my panorama views of Rings #2 and #3. Interestingly, both are 10 "sesa"s long.

Marina confirmed the borders of the sesa section of Ring 2.

EDIT: She kindly took photos of the sesa section.

Just to keep things together and because this might be important, here again the figure how the messages have probably to be combined:

I have a question about the messages in the ring. Are they the whole length of the ring, or just a part? If they are all along the ring, I guess that to know which part of the message correspond to the yellow parts in the diagram above, we may have to put them standing and make guesses as getting all the rings together is a bit difficult.

If that diagram is really the way to form a message, then maybe we can start assembling it. The rings have colors, just take any olympic flag and we'll know how to set them. Then, I guess the upper lines will form a bigger line, as well as the medium and the bottom ones...

to reiterate:

Ring One, Part 6
FIVE, AND ONE
TO TRAVEL. THE WORLD
RETURN TO YOUR HOME

Ring Two, Part 6
ATHLETES TO FULFILL, TEN
MUST ALIGN ALMOST PERFECTLY
DURING THE CLOSING CEREMONIES

Ring Three, Part 6
ONE BY DESIGN; THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME
CALCULATE THE GOAL
FLARE! FIND THE CLOSEST

Ring Four, Part 6
FOURTY RUNNING
IS THE SUM OF SPORTS
MONUMENTAL WAVE THAT THROUGH

And Rings Four and Five have yet to be found. However, we know that La Sesa Ringo will have three separate lines, as the other five do, so with some studying here is what I've gathered:
1. The sixth ring will be a ring--there won't be a definite "start here" point on each message, but it will make sense when we read it all together.
2. Imagine it literally is a sixth ring. Here's how the pieces would align:

Code:
              RING ONE
RING FIVE*               RING TWO
    RING THREE   RING FOUR*

*Rings Four and Five could be switched, as we do not yet know what they say.

The reason I aligned it like that, with R3 opposite R1 and R2, is because it would give us the following message:

FIVE, AND ONE ATHLETES TO FULFILL, TEN *************** ONE BY DESIGN; THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME ****************

CALCULATE THE GOAL *************** TO TRAVEL. THE WORLD MUST ALIGN ALMOST PERFECTLY ***************

RETURN TO YOUR HOME DURING THE CLOSING CEREMONIES ******************* FLARE! FIND THE CLOSEST *****************

note: the starting points of the messages are merely guesses--I'll update it when we find the next ring.

It's also worth remembering this, from Chapter 27 of the Codex:

Quote:
When the words become coordinated, the worlds become coordinated.
Eight points of connection create eight short curves, out of which only five belong.
As the rings themselves, you must take one out of every continent, and make a new ring.
But not a perfect circle.
You must recreate instead the form which you see by the Omphalos.
The flattened spheroid.
Only worry about the untouched interiors.
When you find your way through the five rings, you will see ...
How the branching and collapsing of the universes are first --------------
to above not and then to below yes, and then
to below not and then to above yes, and then
to above not and then to below yes, and finally are
to below yes and then to above yes.
... there were always six rings.

So- "when the words become coordinated" seems pretty clear in this context -- it's the puzzle we're working on now. I still don't know how this is going to give us a "flattened spheroid," however, or what the "untouched interiors" could be.

I think the layout should be like in the picture that is the possible solution to the last chapters yes-no puzzle (see my post above). The colors of the ring shows the position (like Tenchizard suggested)

What are the colors of the rings?
Ring 1: green?
Ring 2: red?
Ring 3: black?

is this correct.

If yes this would be the layout if we took the olympic symbol:

Code:

 Ring ?          Ring 3         Ring 2
           Ring ?          Ring 1

Maybe figuring out a location could be difficult, but James told us Kai would foot the bill for shipping so all we need to do is come up with the plan for who will keep them.

So far they are:

Ring 1: Blue
Ring 2: Yellow
Ring 3: Black

You can tell from the photos -- the edges are colored.

We've taken some more photos of the inside of Ring #1, which are up in the same gallery as the others.

There's clearly a part of the text which has clean separations on each side.

Is this the part people were expecting?

I realized earlier that I haven't been looking at the right part of the Baudot code in order to determine where the separations are.

Code:

  .        . .  .
 .. .. .  . . . .
-----------------
.  . ..  ..   .
    . ...   ..
 .     .. .    .
_LA_RINGO_PERDITA

versus

Code:

  .       ....
 .. .. .     .
--------------
.  . ..  .. .
    . ...
 .     ..
_LA_RINGO_SESA

So, the bit that marks the beginning of each new bit of code looks like a backwards L on top (the four dots in a row is only 'SESA'):

Code:

  .
 ..
----
.  .

 .
_LA_

So thanks to mrjudkins' new photos, we can confirm that we had the right section from Ring #1:

Quote:
KVIN, KAJ UNU
VOJAGXI. LA MONDO
REVENU AL VIA HEJMO
