Quotes that seem to be pointing at Slavoj Zizek.

GAZE and VOICE

DESERT

BOLD GAZE

ETA - ok, maybe just those three.

Slavoj Žižek at wikipedia: (Here), "is a Post-Marxist sociologist, philosopher, and cultural critic." And that's about as far as I got before my eyes turned up in my head...

ROFL at the eyeballs, panchito. Also, Zizak is noted for tossing whacky jokes into many of his analytic writings. From The Puppet and The Dwarf:The Perverse Core of Christianity_ (2003). :
Quote:
A guy finds his best friend playing tennis with Agassi and Sampras. He asks:"How did you manage to improve your game so fast?" The friend answers:"You see that pond behind the house? There's a magic golden fish in it; if you tell her a wish, she immediately makes it come true!" The friends goes to the pond, tells the fish, that he wants his closet full of money, and runs home. When he approaches his closet, he sees honey dripping out from it everywhere. Furious, he runs back to his friend, and tells him: "But I wanted money, not honey!" The friend replies calmly: "Oh, I forgot to tell you -- the fish has impaired hearing, and sometimes misunderstands the wish. Can't you see how bored I am playing this stupid game? Do you think I really asked for an outstanding tennis?"

The old jokes are the best. I like the 12" pianist version better though because it's also a "Man Walks Into a Bar" (Ouch!) joke.

It starts off with this scene from Macbeth, "Is this a dagger which I see before me,The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee," but he gets a little carried away with clutching!

I thought he was fixated on that word. Might come in handy later.

The entire format of the Ghosts of a Chance homepage ihas updated.

It appears that the object is a Submissions Project culminating at the Luce Foundation event mentioned earlier in this thread.

Phone Message

natas, I was too tired last night to get down all of the message on the phone but think this is all of it beginning with the Shakespeare lines above:

"Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. Clutch thee, clutch, such a brilliant piece of work. It makes me feel brilliant just saying it. Clutch thee, clutch. Please press zero and the # key." Then it asks you to record the invocation.
