 		 NEW PLAYERS, A little info
Hopefully this will help the new players out.
WELCOME NEW PLAYERS! We are glad you are here. I think it is definitely time to get some new persective on what is going on with the game, so please by all means, jump right in. But I do have a word of advice for you:

LURK before you leap.

Mentioning the forums or unfiction IG and/or on any IG websites is a major faux-pas. As far as both players and PM's are concerned, while in-game the UF doesn't exist. Of course we are all aware that OOG both players and PMs use the forums but talking about it while in character is a big no-no. I know there are lots of new players that may not have known about this rule, so I thought I would help out by making a post to give everyone a heads-up. Just doing my part to make the game run smoothly and to help the new players transition from lurkers to active players. I hope I helped!!

Smile Definitely not trying to call anyone out, in fact, I couldn't remember who it had been, to tell the truth. And trust me, I know it is quite a load of information to take in if you havent been around for very long. I know it can get overwhelming so I thought I would just give you and the other new players a heads-up. I'm glad I could help!

PS, If you or anyone else needs help with making sense of all this information please feel free to PM me or hit me up on AIM (Guerillagumdrop) and I will try to explain things as best I can. I also assume any of the other veterans wouldnt mind helping as well. Very Happy

 		lol I am the infacto mod of the FET forums... don't feel bad my2juneboys I caught you before Michael saw it...lol I pm about 2 to 3 new peeps a week you aren't the first and aren't by far the last... i think sniper is just trying to NIPIT... nipit in the bud as Barney Fife would say

 		well there are 2 meanings.... the first is Puppet master...it also means game master.... the one that runs the game...It also means Private Message as the one I sent you on the FET forums directing you here... I hope this helps ..lol

This makes me so mad that this continues and that something is not done about it. What we found out from LE about the Eric Taylor case . http://www.doenetwork.org/forum/index.php?topic=26710.0
I checked with the CA DOJ several months back on this situation involving Eric Taylor.It was investigated and found that both Eric and the person holding him as the human pet are trying to get their foot in the door as actors/directors. Tthis is a gag they came up with by circulating on the internet to raise attention. It did because it's still going all these months later!

 		Dude what the heck are you talking about??? the page you listed is a login page... there doesn't seem to be anything on those forums related to Eric Taylor , the humanpet, or the Codemaster. If you are saying this is a game ...lol we know it is.... This is a game forum..... If you got anything else to say copy and paste it...lol

 		Hopefully I fixed it with Michael.... thought there is nothing on those forums about the humanpet eric taylor or the codemaster... this f**ker is trying to mess up our game.... also the dumb@ss left a e-mail addy I emailed the punk.. I would hope everyone else would too to fill up his in box..... Wab

The person you emailed is the Area Director for Missing Persons who is in communications with the California Department of Justice, as well as the doenetwork(thedoenetwork.org). The post was simply to alleviate some of the many concerns of the public, reported to the Doe network and the National Missing Persons organization by people who have come across these videos online, some who have become involved simply because they themselves have had loved ones kidnapped, missing and recovered murdered, some who have felt compelled to help here not knowing it is a game. This website, as well as the 'FET' site, are very similar to many very valid websites hosted by families of real missing persons looking for real assistance. Since you seem to agree with freedom of expression in the public domain, then you should have no problem with the post. Perhaps you could have some decency and sensitivity in allowing a post that simply gives a valid reference to a credible source that this is letting those who question this 'game', who would sleep better at night knowing that this is really a game, not a real crime in progress being played like a game. Play on...

To Whom it may concern,

Let me start off by saying that I do sympathize with you and your concern. I myself could never begin to fathom being in the situation of having a loved one missing, I as well as all of us here can however empathize with those who have. I do extend my condolences and deepest sympathy to any and all who have been offended by this game and us the players.

However, in every post and video it clearly states that this is in fact a "fictional horror story". The Puppet Master of "The Human Pet" has made this very clear from the beginning. I hold the PM of this game in the utmost respect because I know that he himself has worked hard to keep the line between fantasy and reality very clearly drawn. He has taken every precaution and followed every rule.

We as the players of "The Human Pet" have as well, taken every precaution to stay within the boundaries of the game. As players of an ARG we work with in the realm of fantasy, we understand this concept as soon as we step into every game that we engage.

To help you better understand what an ARG is I have borrowed this quote from Wikipedia:
"An alternate reality game (ARG) is an interactive narrative that uses the real world as a platform, often involving multiple media and game elements, to tell a story that may be affected by participants' ideas or actions.
The form is typified by intense player involvement with a story that takes place in real-time and evolves according to participants' responses, and characters that are actively controlled by the game's designers, as opposed to being controlled by artificial intelligence as in a computer or console video game. Players interact directly with characters in the game, solve plot-based challenges and puzzles, and often work together with a community to analyze the story and coordinate real-life and online activities. ARGs generally use multiple media (such as telephones, email, and mail) but rely on the Internet as the central binding medium."


I know that if one or any of us would have thought that this was anything other than the well orchestrated ARG that it is we would have never given it a second glance other than informing the proper authorities immediately.

I also have to say that this is not the first ARG to use this story line. Just recently CourtTV produced one along the same lines with "Help save my husband." So please do not think that this premise is twisted or out of character. It is just another genera of a fascinating game that we all have grown to love and enjoy.

I am sorry, and it must have been very embarrassing for whomever turned in "The Human Pet" to the Doe network and the National Missing Persons organization. I also apologize to those who work there because it must have eaten up valuable time and energy.

I realize you don't understand the process of an ARG because there would have been no question that this was a game. I do again extend my deepest sympathy and sorrow for those who are currently going through this real life situation. But please remember that our Puppet Master did everything possible that the two would never be confused. I hope this gives you a little more understanding of the situation.

We have calli's real e-mail address. If she is so stupid that she cant f-ing figure out its a game then we can talk to her directly. Please tell us more about the public out cry. Id like to hear it. IMHO it sounds like a whiny knowitall that has nothing better to do than be a nosy bitch. If you wish to applogize for her and tell her not to post here or on the FET's again then maybe we wont have to e-mail her directly.

Or would you prefer that we e-mail and discuss this directly with you Tina?

 		This is probably going to come off as callous, and yes I do understand what you are saying Truth, but seriously, I personally am not going to make it my personal business to hold every person's hand who is offended by this game and explain to them that it is not real and what an ARG is. They make it more than obvious that it is entirely fictional, and like Andrea says, if any of us had even the smallest inkling that this was real of course authorities would be contacted. Seriously, I can't imagine how some people must feel that have had loved ones kidnapped or murdered and I completely understand how watching these vids could bring those painful memories and feelings back. I get that. But it comes down to this, and it's very simple:

If you don't like it, don't watch.

I am not going to feel bad for enjoying myself while playing this ARG and I am not going to stop watching because it offends someone. There aren't very many things in this world that truly offend me, but the few things that do I don't actively seek out just so I can be offended and declare that because it offended me that nobody else can watch it/listen to it/talk about it. I have absolutely no right whatsoever to do that. So yeah, you can think of me as a complete asshole. It doesn't bother me. I am not going to tell you that you should stop thinking I am an asshole just because I want you to. Just like I am not going to stop playing THP because some unnamed persons think I should.
