[META]The secret ending

So I just went to see Monica's homepage, as I do almost every day, and a popup showed up, asking me to do a survey. It was kind of "McDonald'ish", but it promised something special if I did it...
Anyway, I took the survey, and they gave me a special "pruvoderehavigo" code, which I'm supposed to enter when the game ends (august 25th). I'd suggest taking the survey if you want one of those codes, I still think those kind of things are good for something, but anyway I guess once we can find what this secret stuff is, we'll be sharing it here anyway...

I've taken that survey as well this morning.

Still unable to make a slash "/" appear in the Omphaputer command line, though. I've tested my whole keyboard now, usual typing, SHIFT, ALT+GR - nothing. The secret was to change the keyboard layout to US standard, wasn't it?

PS I know that I can't access the promised "special content" yet, I just want to be prepared ...

Did the survey too (Be careful if you're using Adblock to DISABLE it or the popup won't show)

You have to press SHIFT together with ALT (not ALTGR) once and you're keyboard will automagicaly switch to US (you can easily check by pressing "A" which should now output "Q")

If i remember right, the "/" output is made by pressing the "!" key

Just tried again and it works for me :

Push the ALT key, keep it down and with another finger push the SHIFT key (the order might be important, so ALT first)
Release both and your keyboard should have changed.

If all fails, you should have langage icon in your windows toolbar (on the right just before the running process icons) with your actual keybard layout ("DE" i guess)

Click on it and you should see the "EN" layout choice

If you don't have a langage icon in your toolbar, right-click on the toolbar and select the language toolbar in the menu that appears.

popped up on Ariadne's site too. I was unable to go back, but I thought the page of questions listing what activities we did was interesting, (i.e. "I translated game content from one language to another") could someone capture this please, for META interest Smile

cheers

Um, well, I mentioned this to people in irc last night, but when I click to start the survey, I simply get a pop up that says this:

Quote:
Thank you for trying to participate in our survey. However, the survey has achieved its desired number of completions. Thanks again for participating!

Hmph. Confused

I'm only potentially upset if completing the survey leads to something cool.

How a survey can achieved a desired number of completions ?! I though that the more the better... ?

Some of the questions

Quote:
When thinking of fast food or quick service restaurants, what brand comes to mind FIRST?

Followed by a couple of questions about the major fast food brands.

Then we got game related questions, including:

Quote:
Which of the following activities related to The Lost Ring did you perform, if any? (check all that apply)
- Saw an online advertisement about the game
- Read a blog post or news article about the game
- Viewed a video trailer for the game
- Visited TheLostRing.com
- Visited the blog of a character in the game
- Listened to a podcast related to the game
- Viewed a player forum about the game
- Posted on a player forum about the game
- Viewed a wiki about the game
- Edited a wiki about the game
- Translated game-related content into another language
- Completed the Strength Quiz for the game
- Performed a task related to your Strength
- Participated in the Lost Sport (i.e. labyrinth running)
- Communicated directly with a character in the game through email, online chat, or face-to-face
- Uploaded multimedia content related to the game (e.g. photos, audio, video)
- None of the Above

See the attached question as well.

Quote:
As a result of my experience with The Lost Ring, I am now likely to visit McDonald's:
- Much more often
- Somewhat more often
- About the same
- Somewhat less often
- Much less often

And the payoff!

Loved that one... In France, there is nearly only ONE fast food brand anyway. (There's "Quick" too, but far lower regarding clients number and location)

Ahahaha yeah the survey. My story about that's funny. So first I spotted it on Diego's blog (because I go to his blog more than Ariadne's), but it was in Spanish and I didn't want to have to translate the whole survey, so I closed it and tried to get it on Ariadne's forum. But then I couldn't get it to come back.

So then when I did it on another computer I managed to start the survey... and when it asked for my age I was all "17" and it was like "You're too young to take the survey" and I was like ">.> FINE BE THAT WAY."

But if people are being given different pruvo codes I'll take it and say I'm 18.

I did not get this message...perhaps there is a desired number of completions *per country*? I did the survey for Canada because, well, I live in Canada Smile. Don't be discouraged by people saying the survey is full...go and see if the survey is full for your country. And hey, be honest Razz...no stealing PRUVODEREHAVIGO codes that rightfully belong to other countries, please Sad. (I am sorry that I feel the need to write that last sentence, but y'know.)
